On APB's Weapon Balance

I have over 2000 hours in APB haven't unlocked a single Tier 3 weapon mod yet for purchase on my main. Auction only access. Been Complaining about the Kill Grind and it's hacking incentive since 2012ish. I've had a few friends try joining me on it over the years but the new player learning cliff keeps driving 'em off and the grind makes it hard for me to convince 'em to stay.

I've yet to bother asking someone how it was set up in RTW, but I've always seen the system as intentionally set up by MoneyFirst to get players to just end up spending real $$$ There's a reason this game has such bad player retention rate

I remember playing back during RTW when nothing had recoil, running around with a Ntec like it was a PMG, and then the day happened when they added recoil to everything. Everyone logging in still had map knowledge but the meta greatly changed. Less Ntecs, more OCA's..

True, i absolutely agree, the biggest issue with the game is getting mew players in. Every time i get paired with a somewhat new player, i either sort to downplay my self or use a veeerry veeery poor gun just to try and at least not be too harsh, cos i know they are the future of the game. LO should really throw out the grind mechanics and really make it easier for new players to get comfortable. Cos even getting the money is just frustrating too, someone may grind their ass off to get like only 20k only for it to be all be taken feom them by some douche cop who is just trying to look for matches.

I personally have spent roughly 300$ in this game. I have STAC, Stiletto, Vas-R2 Sword, Obeya Spartan and other reskins. As for unique armas weapons i have SWARM, Dog Ear, colby .45, Act 44 GM, Atac Watchman, NHVR243-SD, M-1922, CSG, Frog kokoe. As for legendaries - a lot of them. I believe I could fall in definition of P2W player who has huge advantage over others because of the weapons I own but that's wrong. You know what I'm playing with? Ntec5 adeen /w HS3+IR3 for mid range (rifleman >10lvl), Colby PMG from vendor for close range and NHVR762 from vendor for long range. And it's really literally all you need for this game. Despite the fact that I own quite a lot of unique armas weapons, reskins and legendaries I wouldn't say i have advantage over other players. The only advantage I have is having 3-slot weapons. MAYBE. I say maybe because the vendors offer HS3 and RS3 on ordinary weapons and the rest of the modifications are not crucial. They may somewhat help you but it's really not that important in my opinion. If your accuracy is let's say 20% better than your opponent's you will always have huge advantage even if you don't have red, purple or blue modifications. They are all overestimated. The only good ones are the orange modifications which you can buy on social for 70k. But even if you don't have high weapon roles you can still buy a weapon from vendor with decent orange mod while the rest of them doesn't really matter. Now what actually repels new people from this game is veterans. It's not a popular game, the player base is old and old players are good while new players literally have no chance besides luck against them. Having armas weapons and 4x4 in my opinion gets you only about 10% advantage over F2P players. All what matters the most is accuracy and game-sense knowledge. You can have as much armas weapons and modifications as you want. You will always lose a fight against a pro player with a simple FBW in close range or Ntec5 in mid range.

The tutorial gives you a 0 slot wep. Grab the carbine, nhvr, ntec or jg and you can be okay. But I do agree that slotted weps take way to long time to unlock.

Ive watched this all the way through you might want to fix the "OSCAR is a carrbine reskin" the STAC-10 is the Carbine reskin, the OSCAR is a hipfired burst weapon. 7 stk at 2 rounds per burst so 4 bursts to kill.

1. I think LO should get rid of premium. Make rewards after mission same as with premium for everyone. 2. As you said in video, remove grind for sloted weapons/ mods. I believe that by 150r every mod/ gun should be unlocked. Up to 255 just leave cosmetics and cars to grind. Maybe add weapon skins as unlocks. 3. This one is difficult because of population but lets say after engine update we get loads of new players. LO you must separate new players from veterans. Its No.1 priority after engine. Make it so until, maybe r50 new players only play against new players without a way for veteran to derank and join. In case of smurfs, add silent rank system, which ranks you efter every mission. If it ranks you up, you will be put to regular bronze/ silvers districts. Really it is so easy to spot smurf in this game, shouldnt be a issue. 4. For the love of the good, fix and remove some of the missions. For real some of them feel they are made for one side to lose does not matter the effort.and some mission spots need serious fixes *i am looking at you waterfront*. 5. New content- MORE NEW CONTENT. Not only new district or new contact to level up. No. Add more new missions. Maybe update some unutilised parts of district, open up some spaces, make specific new missions to that area. Idk put something, because it is damn boring to grind same missions all the time in same place. It is all I can think now. I believe there is many many more ideas, or someone said same before me, sorry, I cannot be arsed reading comments. Okay then, peace!

It all comes down to skill. The skilled player can and does kill those with less skill regardless of weapon. The vehicles are where you want to spend your money. Without a good paid-for vehicle(or an insane amount of joker tickets), you will always be at a disadvantage to those who do have paid vehicles.

awesome video. i quit 2 years ago because of similar issues. i put 900 hours into playing but i had no money to put in the game. im starting to play it again but of course my silver got knocked back to bronze and i did hit gold several times but was always knocked back to silver i knew everyone had better equipment then me but its just fun to play. there is not many games now days that you can do as well as the top guys without putting some money into it. maybe i can put some money in now we will see.

Fantastic video. As a vet who quit shortly after they released the Nano, you forget how dog shit the new player experience is. This is something that Dota is experiencing as well. In my opinion, the Armas weapons should just have been reskins with no advantage over regular weapons. As for weapons like the Whisper, Scout etc, those should be rewards for progression, thats how you retain the players to keep playing. Rewarding players for grinding mods is backwards if all you are getting is a slighter higher buff. Giving the player base more options by their choice of weapon is the way to go. It's the way the CODs and Battlefields handle progression, by restricting the weapons by level.

I'm a Gold playing on Bronze (dting). Getting a mission against New Players, I pretend im not good at it and let them score lots of kills. When I get paired up with New Players and we fight against r255 fake golds, I tryhard and sweat it just like Flaws and other famous hackers of APB, just to help bronze Players out. New players are the future of this game, community doesnt really help it in that regard and holy fuck, I really wish it was 2012 all over again. Kinda hopeless, but I also wish that engine upgrade could bring in the same number of Players, just like that L4D2 update did (NEARLY 100K!).

In the regard of vague HUD and UI elements, LO should brong back the instructional video that played when you enter a district for the first time and actual tutorial district with Humble Beginnings/Training Day missions, showing the Player how the game works. This game is also doomed because of those reasons you mentioned, it doesn't attract new players, AT ALL, not only the barrier is absurd, the disparity of skill and gear is insane, new players play with veterans, and not every new player can adapt fast and become good to try to keep up the pace even though they'll struggle without gear anyway, new players will simply quit, that easy, too many games in the market to choose from, playing APB with its current monetization system is just absurd. It's trully sad being a fan of APB an seeing these obvious problems that can never be fixed unless a complete remake is made. APB also forces you grind infinitely to maintain the weapons you buy as a free player, grinding money takes time, you need successful missions, good scores, good points, UNDER BAD circumstances, it trully takes a lot of effort. Aaaaand there is yet another problem, in APB everyone knows you can't just stick to one gun if your goal is to win, you have to optimally choose the best weapon for different scenarios and missions, there are just too much variable that forces you to change your weapon, which means, a free to play is once again one million years behind this structure. Let alone OP cars, bazookas, and so forth, the feeling of playing under unfair circumstances make everyone burn out eventually, if you are a whale player spending hundred of dollars you're playing a dead game, it's like a fking desert, back when I played there were times in the day where the district was empty, ONE district, it was not common to see both with players, that's like, 100 players, lmao.

You unlock character/vehicle and some weapon mods through contacts, why not make all weapon mods you talked about available through contacts too? The new player experience is terrible, poor tutorial(this game is crying out for an in depth tutorial) the issues you covered with experienced players against new players(de-threating is also a problem.)

started yesterday and every match i had today were high level players while on a bronze server cuz of dethreating. its a fun game but i dont know if i want to stick around, espacially if ur the one getting raged on by ur level 150+ teammate while only being lvl40 with no weapon- or character mods and hearing about the grind to even have a chance, doesnt really make me want to play this game. if some things have changed in these couple of months, i dont know, but if you have the time (and if you even read this or any other player), should i even bother? ik you mentioned that u would say no, but i want to know if something has changed. either way, great vids. they were very helpfull

I guess you nailed it on the head but I think you missed one point some of the weapons I dunno if its now has been much better than their non store counterparts f.e colby csg vs starting shotgun that armas weapon has much more pellets in spread and has better range... or oca nano there isnt any silenced smg...or that there is no way to buy from start some explosive weapons and if you are low rank welcome to baricade the objective with cars or there was exploit like everything is mapped to f from picking up objects to interacting with npc and what would people do when you have hold the objective they would place the said objective near your own contact so instead of picking the objective you would interact with npc and many many more exploits I like this game but I cannot bring myself to play it or spend money in it since it only punishes me from when i start it...They really need to get rid off weapons in armas or put them in contacts as joker ticket sidegrade or some endgame currency so players have tangible goals to obtain them instead of farming thousands of joker tickets as level 10 contact you can get special currency from missions or medals that you can trade for this weapons

Not to defend the game. Sure its unbalanced but guns wise it depends on the player. Every gun is outplayable. If u use a true ogre in 2 meter radius. U think ogre is OP. But i had numorous encounters where i won with a stock shotgun or smg. For new players it harder. but all guns are outplayable. Atac. Scout. Nfas. Etc.

I need to correct you my friend on some points but first, I've been playing this game since the Open Beta in 2011, and it was a grind as you're saying, because back then everthing needed to be balanced. Jumping to this point in time, I currently have 4 characters with total kills of over 150,000 across all my characters. What I can say regarding balancing and Pay to win, is that, Even though there are some weapons that need some little tweaks, balancing is at a very good spot right now, and the weapon re-skins on the ARMAS Market, for example the Joker CR-5 being a reskin of the NTEC-5, and similar reskins of all the normal free to play weapons, I just can only say that the game really isn't pay to win at the slightest in regards to f2p weapons and the paid weapons. The only advantage premium gives right now is just extra money when you play missions, and the decal number when you're designing symbols or clothes in social. Its only gameplay advantage which was to decrease cooldown of modifications by half, is now gone, and everyone's modification cooldown have been reduced by half. You said "the Oscar is a reskin of the Carbine, and you can only get it by paying for it". That's actually not true, the Oscar is a totally different gun than the Carbine, with the Carbine being a semi-auto that shoots a Single bullet for every time you press left click and is a 6 shots kill weapon, while the Oscar is also a semi-auto that you can buy In-game from contacts, and shoots a burst of 2 bullets for everytime you press left click and is a 7 shots to kill, meaning you have to left click 4 times to kill. Coming to unlocking slotted weapons, it's really not that hard getting a 1000 kills. I can get that in less than 24 hours of playtime. It's literally why fightclub exists. You can get minimum 400 kills in a day if you play for 8 hours. And you can manage with a 2 slotted weapon that's unlocked at Rank 11 of every role just fine. Even then, with the updated Joker Store, you can buy 3 slotted permanent weapons that are identical to ARMAS weapons, and just skip the kill grind, for a much easier Joker Tickets Grind. So your point that ARMAS weapons are pay to win doesn't stand, because they're literally the same as free to play weapons with different sounds and different designs, And now moreso, that they're part of the lineup in the Joker Store. Basically the only thing that still needs balance in the opinion of the community, is Cars. They're calling for balancing of Health and Speed on older cars and of course nerfing Pioneer and Epaciyo.

I find it funny how you supposedly watch the video but didn't at the same time. You missed every point he made in the video. You have 150000 kills on your rerolls. Big whoop, you want a prize for going around a second time to smurf? The point is to make it more new player friendly. And then you mention "joker cr5 is just a reskin of ntec" not once in the video he said it wasn't. He never said all weapons are p2w, he said the complete opposite. He stated that problem has been fixed for the most part with very little exceptions. Wow YOU can get 1000 kills in 24 hours. Want another trophy? The game doesn't need to be catered to you. Again, the point of the video that you supposedly "watched" is NEW player retention. Just cause you have the knowledge and RESOURCES to get those thousand doesn't mean the new player does. The joker store does get you higher tier weapons, by that i mean slotted weapons. Again though, it doesn't lessen the grind for new players at least not but much. Especially the fact you get such a minuscule amount of tickets when weapons cost 8.5-10k tickets. "But there are weapon that are cheaper" yes, but why get a no slotted weapon or one slotted one. You just run into the same problem, mods with no place to put them. Only real way to get a bump in tickets is events but those are far and few in between. Fightclub is not even an argument. It'll take months to enough tickets. Assuming you can even do the objectives they give in Storage Shipping when you get steamrolled when max level golds are there flexing their legendaries. Going to have to wait until it clams downs and by that time new players will think that's all the game has to offer and leave. Point of video: -progression sucks -new players leave -game keeps its drying pond of players that remain Nothing of which you even pointed out in your comment other than vaguely saying 2 slotted weapons are easy to unlock by flexing you are capable of doing it.

One of many gripes I have with their weapons is their type of grenades... I mean concussion and perc are much better than frags...Yes they behave differently but when one grenade can instagib carr like your in video just because he threw it closer is bullshit...Compare it to frags where you need to throw 2 nades at car and shoot it several times to blow it up.. another problem which apb has is the accessibility to modifications I mean when you want to unlock something usefull like brick for your car which prolongs car driving on its own when you get out or car surfer mod you need to get to level 200 which is fuck ton of grinding to point of 500 + hours and with that mod if you have mission f.e hold the objective you can mount on vehicle with lmg that is purposefully made to destroy cars and can wreak havoc against newbies who dont have this tools... This progressions system is quite AIDS and needs to be reworked after engine upgrade or that upgrade doesnt bring anyone new to game... I like the concept its just the progressions is slow as hell and nets you so many useless shit and compared to guys like those who are level 255 you are screwed and you cannot outskill them at all since if the mission generates something which is in confined building or something and you dont have right gun you are screwed...Also another thing is the stupid ladder climbing in this game which is scripted and you cannot control climbing it hurts the game since ladder camping can be heavy...I applaud LO what they did with this game so far but I think it would be much better to scrap it and start anew on Unreal for and re-release the game since its broken mess...

9:44 nope oscar is a special weapon it doesnt have any equivalend and is unlockable during playtime around 195R(level) or paywall ;) oscar shoots 2 bullets per shoot kills or 4 bursts aka 7 bullets as i remember. its not Joker carabine the only reskin i know of that Joker carabine is STAC10 which is exacly 1 to 1 equivalent of free version i could argue about weapons obtained from contacts where you have 0.00000001% to get in entire of your gameplay i have over 10.000 hours played in this game in diffrent accounts characters combined and i didnt even meet 2 of that weapons (i won only stac10 no slot variant off it). well there is a secondary weapon noone knows about ... except cheaters and true veterans of enforcer faction TG-8 the most OP weapon and the same way the worst weapon in the game stuns in same time as FBW kills and has range max 35meters where 36meters away you do no stunn damage ... (i have that weapon rented on over 900 days) ps. star + FWB is best weapon combo you can make best guns of all time you dont need mods ... except 1 mod for character Clothing agent ... please more research next time ... 13:24 - look at the chat :) hehe someone is raging ...

Never understood why people thought this game was P2W. All weapons are obtainable within the game. Leveling up is easy if you just blow through missions 24/7.

Not everybody has the luxury of being able to blow through missions 24/7 other people have real life issues to attend to and can't spend the hundreds of hours of their time required to get to a level where they have an equal footing to fight with everybody else. While true that permanent weapons are obtainable in game, it requires you to also spend hundreds of hours in the game grinding Fight Clubs, even bigger number of hours if you're unable to be proficient in it (and considering how most other people in fight clubs always pack powerful legendary weapons of their own and the servers are a complete free for all regardless of ranks, good luck getting any proficient as a Free 2 Play player). One player having a base N-Tec 5 with no mod slots that only lasts 10 days, isn't the same as another player having the same N-Tec 5 with Improved Rifling 3, Hunting Sight 3, and Mobility Sling 3 that lasts forever considering just how game changing mods can be. In my opinion the F2P and P2P audience would have a much smaller disconnect between one another if they're both allowed to have permanent weapons through ranking up. Base game weapons with mod slots should be permanent while weapons with intergrated mods should be the only ones put on a 10 day timer which is the same system that cars have. That way, Armas weapons can truly be just an extension of the game rather than feeling like a core part of the experience.

@@wotwott2319 How is other players not having the time to play the game my or any other players problem? It is not. If you cant find time to get better/progress at something, you wont progress. Just because you dont have time doesnt mean it should be shortened to your liking. That is the point of obtaining weapons in this game in general. Spending hours upon hours building your character, your knowledge of the game, how to aim, move, different tactics in offense/defense in districts, etc. And yea youre right, its not the same thing and I do believe they need to fix threat/matckmaking etc in mission districts, but FC is good the way it is, other than boring VIP mission in Abington. And I dont see how permanent weapons are a problem at all? I see your concern with mods changing the game, but thats due to the shitty threat level/matchmaking issue like dethreating etc. The only way I see armas as an extension is purely cosmetic. Guns are the same. Most armas weapons suck harder than their in game reskins. My point is, spending time on something will let you improve upon it as it did me

@@gavin2kara I think for new player friendly style though I think definitely needs an improvement encourage experienced players to show the ropes to new ones and help them progress faster.

@@sverredds my point is, it isnt crazy steep at all. people are just entirely too pissed about getting beaten and too lazy to hone their skills that they just blame it on things that are not at fault.
