We can get the point of the video and still tell her we don't think she's ugly. We want to say nice things to other people. We're also so used to people fishing for compliments in life and social media that we're almost programmed to compliment people when they say they don't measure up in some way. She's not actually fishing for compliments, of course, but comes off as such a sweet, smart, interesting person that it's like a natural instinct for me to want to comfort her and tell her she's fucking beautiful and amazing. I won't though. But I understand why people would.

Cora LovesGlam I know what she is trying to say. But she does it because she thought a lot about her apperiance in the past. We all want to be loved and seen as beautifull on the insde AND outside. Its a fact. And its not ok saying: its ok I may see myself as ugly, but there are other things important than that. Because and this is the sad truth: its very important in this society to be beautifull. And being ugly, I mean physically ugly, is only possible if you see yourself like that. You can accept it and stay ugly, you can avoid it and also stay ugly or you can deny it and voila you are beautifull. Without surgery, without makeup, without anything. Beauty is not always something that is physical, its something in your attitude. If you are physically beautifull and you know that, well congrats. But if you are not, but you think it anyways, you are also beautifull. But if you think, well I am not beautifull, but it doesn't matter, other things are more important. Well they are, but it doesn't change the fact that you think you are ugly. And so will other people see you too. And I think its all started, because other people told her once she is ugly. And instead of finding out her outer beauty, she tells a lot about other things that matter in this life. I know its not the most important thing in the world to be beautifull. For me its health and independence. But even I lay in hospital, when I had a good day, I did my make up. I care for myself with doing make up, because it was the only way I could care for myself at all.
@0001Nikola6 жыл бұрын
I agree. With comments like that, people are just admitting that physical appearance means everything to them. They can't understand that there are some other people that simply don't care about physical appearance. Why would you have say to anyone that he/she is pretty or ugly? Only shallow people do that. To me, personality is everything. If you're good and intelligent person, that's all I need to be good with someone.

@@K-a-n-d-i-s What life have teached to me is: the label "you are ugly" is too easily given and often falsely given also. Our judgments should always be: John 7:24 KJV Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Lets analyze the judgment "you are ugly" - 1stly it is judgment towards a being, This world sees females as sex toys not as human beings. If the real you ain+t known, then there is nobody to judge. 2ndly - it is judgment towards appearances, we all age every second, what is therefore there truly judge? and what John 7: 24 says? Being single gives us the full freedom to get right with GOD, to build into existence once lost relationship, between GOD and creation, between PARENT and child. 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 KJV 32 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: 33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. 34 There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 35 And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction. this world presents love as lust, and if you`re not always touched, then you are not loved = lies and fear propaganda. All of it because the MK ULTRA PROJECTS from masons. John 15:13 KJV Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. And being ALONE (not on your own) does bring forth sober mind. What I have witness in my short life so far is, souls get together for money and because they are bored and the 3th reason is, the pressure of peers and older generations. “People around me repeated daily, get married and have children and move out, so I did. Am I happily living after? NO, i`m bitter, angry, sad, broken, in fear, heavy leaden, in darkness, always in somewhat contests with people around me, who has something better, something more and so on…, I succumbed to the fear of the opinions about my life of others, thats the hurtful truth.” We start feeling lonely, because we are on our own, lonely comes not from BEING ALONE. We all suffer of something and as we like “diagnoses” then lets diagnose ourselves: too often in the company of people, leading us to fear ALONE TIME, which each soul needeth. The cure for all of our problems are: ALONE TIME AND BIBLE. Hollywood has teached us how to live and love, way too long, lets risk with all that we have and give chance to GOD through His word. KJV Bible says; Matthew 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? Luke 12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Well if you don’t think you’re beautiful you could just fix it. These days you can go as far as plastic surgery. The girl in this video would be super good looking if she grew out her hair, got rid of her glasses, straightened her teeth, got some acne creams etc. Most women that are good looking today weren’t born like that. They artificially changed how they looked. Most women would look like this girl if there wasn’t so much pressure to be pretty

Feeling beautiful IS though. She said she avoids mirrors, and feels insecure sometimes. Anytime she goes to the restroom she cannot avoid the mirrors. Her features are symmetrical, eyes are pretty. It would be low maintenance to have a short haircut that won't allow the hair to stick upward & a shampoo/conditioner for her hair type plus a facewash for her skin type. I'm not a makeup type of girl, barely brush my hair, but I use some inexpensive yet proper products for skin and hair, my hair is layered, short, and frayed for easy care. Daily hair washing would be even easier if she rocked a shorter haircut and it might make her feel as beautiful as she actually IS.

Indiawalker27 it's not people's fault for thinking that way when society has been feeding us all these beauty standards, on what is considered beautiful or handsome, and what isn't, since the dawn of time. Whether that's through media, advertisements, or peer pressure, it ultimately creates this narrow perspective into your mind that you start following. I mean, we've been subconsciously told to do this our whole lives. Edit: Its also completely natural to want to look beautiful. Animals such as peacocks and certain birds "show off" their feathers in order to attract mates and get partners. We do the same thing when trying to look for a partner. It's completely natural and instinctual. It's just that the standards these days are ridiculously high.

No one is really ugly nor is anyone really beautiful. We are multidimensional and can actually exhibit both qualities simultaneously, but those terms should not define us. I grew up in a very shallow community where the standard of beauty or attractiveness is a very narrow list of certain characteristics. Since I was the only member of my family who didn’t meet this standard, I am referred to as “the ugly sister” in those circles. Fortunately, I moved far away from that place many years ago and refuse to see people in such a ridiculous way. You articulated this position magnificently. Thank you so much!

The fact that you can accept what you think is "ugly" is the reason why you are so much more beautiful than so many people out there. ngl i thought she was a guy in the thumbnail, not ugly, just a normal guy. when saw her face closer up and realized she was a girl i thought it was really cool. idk but i definitely wouldn't say she's ugly. something about her facial features just work together so well that make her look so much more interesting (not in a bad way) to look at than any instagram model i've seen (cause they all look the same). idk her face is may not be beautiful but i like looking at it

I don’t like the comments of “you’re pretty” or “you’re not ugly” because that totally defeats this whole topic. That’s like saying yes it’s important to not be ugly, let me convince you that you’re not ugly. This is about even if you are ugly or are judged by someone as ugly, how to not be hurt by it, not feel like shit, not let it impact on your self esteem, not be self conscious of your looks, not feel inadequate or not good enough. It’s an incredibly hard thing to be ok with and I like how Kara is trying to adopt a mindset whereby she can be ok if she ever feels or thinks or is judged as ugly.
@EyeLean5280 Жыл бұрын
But what if we a) really don't agree that she's ugly and b) worry that she's coming up with all this other stuff but actually isn't able to shield herself from feeling bad?
@LovelyDay11 Жыл бұрын
But very very few people in the world are ugly (they are usually deformed in some way) and this girl is in no way ugly. It’s important to have a realistic view, somebody calling her ugly does not mean she’s actually ugly. So you don’t accept you’re ugly and then not get hurt but realize you’re actually not ugly and the other person currently holds a fantasy image in their head they deem as beautiful and that has nothing to do with you, your looks or reality. Reality and objectivity is important. Learn to discern truth not adapt your emotions according to other people’s views, that’ll get you in trouble in life.
@carltonjohnston8408 Жыл бұрын
@@LovelyDay11 There are so many flaws in your comment. Lots of people hate looking at their image in mirrors or photographs, they don’t like how they look, they think they are ugly. What you say in believing you’re not ugly is impossible if you do believe you’re ugly. What if you have been called ugly many times in your life and you know you’re not good looking, how can you believe you’re not ugly and that anyone who says you’re ugly is wrong? What you say does nothing to address being hurt at being or being judged as ugly. Ugly is subjective, attractiveness is subjective. But the whole subject here is how to be ok with being ugly, how to not be hurt if judged or seen as ugly by others. What you say does nothing to address these issues, you’re actually pouring fuel on the fire because what you are saying is “ugly is a terrible thing, it’s so important to not be ugly, let me tell you that you are not ugly, so it’s ok”. You do think being ugly is a terrible thing don’t you?
@carltonjohnston8408 Жыл бұрын
@@EyeLean5280 but that’s not what this is about. What if someone wants to do a video about “how to be ok with being ugly, how to not be hurt if you are judged as ugly by others”. Are you going to just respond - oh you’re not ugly so it doesn’t matter. This is a topic lots of people want to try and change their mindset on. I wish Kara did this video by saying “I know I’m not ugly but I want to do a video on why you shouldn’t be hurt if you think you are ugly or judged as ugly - so that people don’t keep responding by dismissing the topic by saying “you’re not ugly so let’s not even go there”.

@@carltonjohnston8408i think you are reading into their comments too much. Most people watch like 10s of a video then comment. The only context the commenters have is a video title implying the person is ugly, and the face of a person who most certainly isn’t ugly.

You're not ugly. And this is not a compliment, this is a disagreement. Except the part of her being ugly, which is quite an important part. I'm sure she wouldn't believe this comment, but i just wanted to say my honest opinion. It's amazing that she found a way to accept ugliness, but it's sad that the ugliness is not there in the first place. She doesn't fit the standard of a hot babe or whatever. But to me, 'ugly' means unpleasant to look at - and I don't find her to be that at all. To me, ugly people have a dullness or a deadness behind their eyes - she's very animated which means living, and as she says theyre's something inherently beautiful in that.. And even going by the most conventional beauty standards her eyes are a really beautiful color, so she as at least one 'beautiful' feature in the conventional sense. honestly i really hate when someone says "everyone's beautiful / pretty" - i'd really prefer if they said "beautiful or not, your worth is not based on your looks". that's my biggest problem when it comes to body positivity and the body positive movement; they should focus more on the inherent value of being a person, regardless of looks, especially because saying that "everyone's beautiful" doesn't cancel insecurities and self-esteem problems. to me at least, i had a pretty big self esteem problem until i realised that i don't have to be pretty to deserve love and respect. so what i think is no, not everyone's beautiful (what's beauty anyway? there's no way to quantify it, since it's not objective, so there's no point in saying that), but regardless, everyone's human, and we are all worth something.
@elbinalejandrofelizgonzale17424 жыл бұрын
I do understand your points and agree totally, but I think that in large part of what body positive movement is about sums up to 3 things, 1. unlearning toxic habits and self loathing that one acquires growing up, by exposing oneself to the world, (if you can show yourself to people on the web, you can do it in public), trying to overcome years of bullying and judgment that sticks with people even after decades, and feeds mental illness, 2. holding the bigots accountable, in present day bigots like to hide behind "FACTS and LOGIC", but their real intend is to hurt others, it is true that some people are undeniably ugly, but that is not a invitation of a constant reminder, the language that a person uses to describe others can tell you what their intend is, 3. normalize and give a chance to others body types, people with different bodies exist, and they have necessities that the market often ignores, so they raise their voices so their necessities are met just everyone else's, I think the internet has show that the mainstream standard of beauty is just a lie and there is more diversity in taste that people thought, and it is a good that everyone can see it. Sorry for the bible, just wanted to let some thoughts.

+reyom neraul and what world do you live in? I'm sorry to break it to you but there are standards whether you like it or not. She is obviously not happy so people are making suggestions on how she can change it. And she can. There are a lot of tv shows there people get a make-over and feel much better, their eyes shine. Everyone loves feeling pretty. And she is not ugly. I can just see what I would change in her (hair, make-up, glasses). She can be really pretty. She actually reminds me of Emily Bett Rickards.
@citiz3n9428 жыл бұрын
+IrinNovy If she liked makeup she would wear it. She's made another video to say that she doesn't wear makeup because it doesn't interest her currently. And yes society has its standards haha! But no one is required to mold themselves to them. Society's standards are the reason she is depressed to begin with, and if she chooses not to abide by them that's her choice to make. And yes I believe that she is attractive as well. Beauty isn't always about changing yourself, it can be about changing your mindset. She views herself as different, and realizes that it's okay to be that way.
@IrinNovy8 жыл бұрын
reyom neraul of course it's her choice but if she's unhappy (and she clearly is) why not become conventionally pretty? I see a weird contradiction here. She doesn't like makeup - ok. Her choice. But she feels really miserable because she is not considered pretty by some standards. But guess what? Those people, who are pretty by the standards, spend hours taking care of their appearance. Even Hollywood celebrities don't look as perfect without make-up. So she doesn't wanna do anything and wants to be pretty (and she does, all this talk is just self-deceptiveness), that is just lazy to me.

Because I never insulted anyone calling them sad and miserable or making assumptions about peoples feelings towards themselves just because I see someone give a compliment SMH

Wow! Jeezus. I just gave another person a compliment. It doesn't mean I'm a homo or that I'm literally jealous of her. @liberaazzurra6 жыл бұрын
Calm down, girls who are into makeup are praised anywhere, if they can finally find a corner in the world where they are not, at least you will know how disadvantaged ugly people feel when they are looked down on most of the time, just because of how they look. Pretty people are not "victims" just because occasionally someone appreciates goodness and intelligence more than phisical feautures. It' s as if someone praised the strenght of deseased people, and a bunch of healthy people came along crying "we are good tooo you don' t need to bring us down to appreciate them". Perspectives. Btw, I' m a person who likes chlotes, style and looking good.
@iluvstarkid1006 жыл бұрын
I think the point is more that beauty and intelligence are not exclusive to each other (you can be attractive and smart). Also beauty is subjective, a “super model” could think she was ugly and feel bad about herself and benefit from this video. I don’t think the point of this video is to say “ugly” and intelligent people are better than pretty people. It’s just that if you don’t give as much weight to the terms ugly and pretty you can feel better about yourself. We all have insecurities.
@DarlaRaeDyson6 жыл бұрын
Sienna C I am not trying to be disrespectful at all, and if it comes off in that manner I apologize in advance. Your comment bothers me for this reason. Aside from others comments, that have zero to do with this girls absolutely amazing message, I feel you missed the point of her video & are concerned with the comments of others, again, which has nothing to do with this video. Also, from your allegations that people are “putting others down,just to praise her”, I went ahead & read through about 20 comments & haven’t found ANY comments downing others, nor “praising” this girls honest,deeply profound personal opinion at such a young age. Maybe if you actually Watched, Really Listened to the incredibly true message, instead of gearing your focus on primarily on a handful of comments by people, you may or should “get” the actual point of her Video & the very real topic she is speaking on..... and I don’t want to sound like I’m attacking you, because that isn’t my intention, but when you read your comment, the way it comes across it is as if you are the like the very people she is speaking about, but rather then “pretty” or “ugly” in appearance by this world’s “standard” , Your doing the same thing with the comments, caring about what the masses have to say, which equates to meaningless, mindless self indulgence & takes away from her excellent message, directs it to nonsense, division & confusion. Again, this is just my observational opinion. I agree that NOONE should constantly & maliciously put others down because of their appearance. We all have many things to offer this world & “beauty” isn’t an ability, and shouldn’t be praised, because “beauty” on the outside does & will, with age, time & life circumstances fade, where internal beauty, kindness, intelligence, skills, trades & life experiences will only continue to grow, thus deepening each individual’s strength’s, bonds, friendships & relationships that are formed throughout this journey we ALL travel & call LIFE✌🏼💯🖤👏🌹 Hope you have a good day, and that my comment helped in some way, and didn’t hurt anyone. Peace, LoVe, and Many HarMoNieS❤️🎶✌🏼

Once I started accepting the fact that I am ugly, the word "ugly" took on a new definition. It became more of a concept. An ever changing opinion. Ugly and pretty are two sides of the same coin. Honestly, I don't find anyone ugly anymore. I feel like I have been released from society's idea of the ideal body and beauty standards have become so trivial. I also became less judgmental of others. I see people as humans. There are still days where I feel terrible about myself, but I'm trying to look at myself how I look at others. I still see people that are "ugly" "pretty" "cute" "fat" "skinny" but they are still people. We are conditioned to label people the moment we see them. I've learned to look past that and I've begun to realize how beautiful everyone is. Not because of how they look, but simply because they are human. Humans are amazing! You can be ugly and beautiful at the same time :) You are beautiful. I'm not saying it as a compliment. It's simply my belief. Thank you for this video.

I thought I was the only one. Like when I was a kid I thought of everyone as beautiful. No one was ugly to me when it comes to appearance. As in no one. I didn't focus much on the looks, I focused on people's character n' how they treated me. But now I'm all grown up and I've got a taste of society's beauty standards, it started to mess up with my perception of everyone. Now I'm slowly getting the hang of not being obsessed with looks
