An oral treat this one. Doug Flory often supports Ipswich Transport Museum events with his ex Ipswich AEC Regal. New in 1951, it was bought in a batch of 5 to start new services to the Chantry Estate in the town. Saloons were used as the route passes under a low bridge just at the end of the Railway Station - a trait continues to this day.
Here Doug takes 8 with a full load up the notorious Birkfield Drive Hill on the approach to Chantry, which despite being a mere 67 years old (the bus that is, not Doug!) it manages with a bit to spare.
