I have them, and i like them . My only complaints are the weight and upper material. It is not a heavy shoe, but compared to the reg surfer , i wish it was closer. The next also has a stiffer upper (like a race shoe) while the surfer and eclipse have a softer feeling upper. Lastly , i noticed it softened up a bit after a couple of uses, so i guess there is sort of a break-in period?

Hi. Thanks for your comment. As we mentioned in the video, the Helion superfoam in the Cloudsurfer Next is denser than the Helion superfoam in the Cloudsurfer. This makes it heavier. Unless On added an actual superfoam to the midsole, they wouldn't be able to make it as light as the Cloudsurfer foam, and improve energy return. This would also make them much more expensive. As we also mentioned, the upper is designed like On's pinnacle race day shoes, hence why you think it feels like a race shoe. The stiffer nature offers a more performance-orientated fit, which should deliver better foot hold when you're running faster - especially around corners. We agree the Cloudsurfer and Cloudeclipse have softer, potentially more comfortable feeling uppers. However, the perception of comfort and support is likely to differ when you're running at contrasting efforts. For example, the Cloudsurfer upper probably lacks the necessary support to keep your foot contained at faster efforts, but feels great during lower intensity runs. We definitely agree the foam softens up a touch. This will happen to most foams, due to compression. However, temperature can impact this too, if you're running in a hot environment, the foam can start to feel softer towards the end of your runs. So far, the foam still feels pretty consistent for us. However, we'll monitor this report back when we've run closer to 400-500 miles in them. All the best with your running.

I have the Cloudeclipse for easy and long runs, and the Cloudflow 4 for intervals. I find the Cloudflow 4 too stiff for me. My legs hurt after using them. I’m now looking for a pair that offers more cushioning but is still good for intervals. Should I go for the Cloudsurfer or the Cloudsurfer Next?

@elbayawak thanks for the question. The Cloudsurfer Next are a great option for intervals, and should perform considerably better than the Cloudsurfer. The Cloudsurfer Next are much more responsive and offer a lot more propulsion than the Cloudsurfer. As the Cloudsurfer Next don’t feature a Speedboard, or any form of plate, they should feel softer and more forgiving than the Cloudflow 4. It’s likely you’ll find the CloudTec Phase geometry also feels smoother and more comfortable to run in versus the Cloudflow 4’s cushioning system. All the best with your training.

@@run4it thanks for the reply. Just to be clear, you mean Cloudflow 4, right? Not Cloudboom?
