@@davemaric4057 Moog One sounds terrible for the price and power.. Prophet 10 rev 4 is AWESOME sound, the best sounding modern synth by far.... this UDO sounds ok, but very digital you could get similar results from software easily (even without a real SSM style filter). For me Prologue 16 and Prophet 10 are the real VCO/ANALOG sounding deal, and Polybrute and Super 6 are weaker/thinner/flatter sounding synths with more features (but could be done in software)

Yes, this blue one looks beautiful, now, sound wise, they are very different - they do overlap in bread and butter territory but each has its own quirks. @@earlsfield a lot of the stuff I make with synths right now is more soundtrack/ambient/sorta synthwavy stuff so having the UDO seems like it'll be a good fit! But I think my local synth shop has the Prophet on display in their shop as well so I may as well stop in and give the Rev a shot!

@@Laizerdisk In the meantime I have sent desktop back and got black UDO Super 6 with keyboard, because I wanted performance panel and I fell in love with the insturment as a whole. It has crazy features, but can sound classic, or modern, or sharp or mellow. It is super versatile instrument. REV2 on the other hand is something else, more bread and butter plus all the modulation crazyness. Two very different machines, that in my case complement each other extremely well.

Lack of a screen puts you in touch with just oscillators, envelopes, filters, modulation routing and sounds creation, it's that simple, this would have to be the best sounding analog/digital synth of the decade, that's a serious claim I know, not even the new PolyBrute to my mind comes close, the immediacy of sound sculpting minus menus and screen looks like freedom of a sort.......awesome demo.

I have a Super 6 myself. It has phase reset issues. UDO said it would be fixed in a firmware update. But it seems that it is more difficult than anticipated since they gave August 5th as deadline and as of now (August 17th) don't have it ready yet. There are other bugs as well but I'm sure they'll get fixed in time. It's a great synth but there's no denying that we early adopters are beta testers.

@funkyjunkltd3 жыл бұрын
Good point. I will update the description for clarity. Most - if not all, I can't remember now! - of these sounds were me scrolling through default patch-banks and hitting record on the spot, with only basic on-the-fly adjustments being made (mainly filter cutoff, drive, chorus, ADSR etc). As this was the first time we'd opened a Super 6 up it was only originally intended to give a rough idea of some of the sounds you can get more or less "out of the box". Price aside, any thoughts on this versus the Moog One? Do the oscillators have a nice drifty feel to them? How is the bass? Do you experience any ear fatigue from the digital side? Thanks!
@funkyjunkltd4 жыл бұрын
Good question! They’re different beasts - The Moog One is a behemoth of a synth - amazing for huge developing atmospherics, choral-like ambience and majestically ethereal sounds, although that is by no means all its capable of. I think that if you’re happy to spend some time learning your way around the One’s labyrinth of parameters and options, and are in the business of needing an almost limitless palette of sounds for serious compositional work for example, then the One is the ultimate tool. It’s a monster of a synth, but one that has been aimed at a particular type of user. The Super 6 on the other hand - whilst occupying a lot of the same sonic territory - to my ear sounds and feels quite different (my colleague likened it to a Juno-6 crossed with a Prophet 5). Hard to pin-point what it is specifically at this stage but there’s something almost organic about its sound (the way sounds and textures evolve, for example). The low-end is substantial and full-sounding (I’ll demo that better in the next vid) and with the drive circuit engaged it sounds really wonderful. Even the more digital sounding presets are lush and pleasing - my ears certainly didn’t get tired of the sound (but of course much of that will also depend on your monitors; we were switching between APS KLASIK2020's, ATC and PMC monitors). The layout encourages exploration in a creative and engaging way which for me is probably the most appealing point, besides the sound. We'll be shooting a Moog One demo video this week so hopefully that will demonstrate the difference more adequately than my description does! Keep your eyes peeled.🙏
@nickjones56414 жыл бұрын
@@funkyjunkltd Cool, thanks for the reply! I'm looking for a synth to use for scoring. I did see that the Moog One was largely responsible for the fantastic Uncut Gems soundtrack. However, I do see the appeal of the user-friendly interface on the UDO and the binaural sound would be nice in a theater. As with all digital gear, I find that people kick it to the curb after 5-10 years and the analog stuff becomes more desirable. Not sure if this is the case here. I look forward to your Moog One video!
