I spent countless hours back in 1989 - 1998 creating sounds like these, and honestly, not quite as good. But I had thousands of dollars in both analog and digital synths with a sampler and a host of processors and recording gear , nearly all totally obsolete now, or in need of repair. I am so pleased with this synth and your work done on it. Thanks for a very pleasing presentation.
@JohnFHendry Жыл бұрын
Yep... I look at my midi gear now and as good as it all sounds 128 midi steps just can't match the high resolution expression of ASM's Hydrosynth Deluxe with Poly AT and release velocity;-) Sure hope Korg follows suit with whatever replaces the Kronos.

I'll be honest: this is the first Hydrasynth demo I have seen that I actually find compelling. :S It *seems* like a synth with such deep potential, but every other demo I've heard thus far (maybe twenty) is *really* uninspiring. I don't get it. Thanks for showing me what's actually possible.

Please, would someone buy one of these, load these patches, and encase it - shipping box and all - in a block of acrylic, and place it in a deep cave for some future generation to find thousands of years from now? 7:16 Nice... with poly AT it can do things other keyboards... even the Korg Kronos can't do (without a poly AT controller). Maybe ASM will make a high resolution poly AT controller with release velocity supporting Midi 2. They sure did a nice job so far with the HydraSynth now with twice the polyphony in a 73 key version;-) It's about time Poly AT was brought back as CH AT just makes a mess with complex sounds and is useless compared to Poly AT that opens up a whole new dimension for expression.

Have to put another comment in here to support. I recently bought all the Hydra patches from Push-Pull and are amazed by the rich soundscapes that can be created with the Hydrasynth. I was on the verge of selling my Hydra until I got those patches. Now, the Hydra module is a fixed part of my rig and definitely is a keeper. I'd rather sell one of my Rolands. Kudos to Push-Pull for those outstanding sets of patches for such an awesome price. Best bang for the buck ever!
@grizcuz2 жыл бұрын
Really nicely done. I think these patches are some of the best I've heard at showing off the poly aftertouch. They sound gorgeous, but they're obviously useable rather than just a collection of those: 'hold one note and it virtually plays an entire demo track' type patches that you get on some more complex synths.

@edmontontech20083 жыл бұрын
Indeed. And the workflow makes patch building fast and natural. And all of that cross modulation!! People argue over synths not realizing that an oscillator is an oscillator. Lin and exp FM sounds the same no matter what, its math. But the workflow can turn the most daunting and complex sounds in to a 5 minute patch affair.
@Pulse2AM3 жыл бұрын
@@edmontontech2008 Isn't the Hydrasynth wave table too? I'm not a fan of wavetable synths but I did own a Microwave XT which is wave table. Depending on the waves they all sound different.

So I definitely like Hydrasynth. I am new at this though. When I heard the Montage 8 demos I started wondering if it can be loaded with instrument patches that can then be modified? I figure one needs something like this for synthesis, and another device for orchestral type sounds or natural instruments but I could be wrong.
@raucousgeorge3 жыл бұрын
What you're looking for is "sample playback". Some synths do it. This one does not. So for convincing orchestral sounds you would definitely want a different instrument (in addition to this). The Hydasynth is always going to sound like a synthesizer.
