KZbin is still viable and no other mode of communication has created such an effect. When I was in Paris last month I couldn't believe the number of people looking at their phones and swiping. Their attention span collapses. That introversion is dangerous. The fault of TikTOK. I find myself watching your videos all the way through. Since I can't live in Paris, your content is a lifeline. Keep going! Cooper agrees.

There’s definitely no substitute for experience and letting something grow organically. A presenter on the radio was making exactly the same point this week about riding the algorithm just to increase your follower numbers. I think the same argument applies to any field of work - there are no sustainable quick wins.

I know some of them had it planned out publicly in advance, others hit their limit, but yeah I think that the new year makes for a good marker to quit. Also seeing others do it probably gives a sense of permission - sometimes it can feel isolating to be in this on your own and what other KZbinrs do (like retire) can help it feel ok for you to do the same. I work a 9to5 job and really they try to focus on metrics, it is how the judge and decide if you are doing a good job or not( the blame game) I often wonder if this type of judgement says more about the person judging. The KZbin, ie. yours is more showing how growth is possible showing the process the success and pitfalls. I can use this type of thinking in my world too. Thanks

10:43 is HUGE. It's a basic tenet of the metaphysics and mysticism that I've delved into the last two decades. Neville Goddard said "we don't attract what we want; we attract what we ARE" and that is the lynchpin. Like it or not, through my ATTENTION I am giving life to the world around me and bringing forth more of that which I pay attention to, regardless of whether I "want" it or not. This is why any concerted dedicated action toward a desired end brings forth movement in the direction of that end: it's based on the assumption that I AM what I desire to be; I'm not "wanting to be" it. I AM IT and am doing something from that knowing, and therefore, I create more of it. I wish I was as much a master of this as I make myself out to be in social comments. Anyway... love the video. Hope to have $$$ and reup to your pateron someday sooner than later!

This video has been stewing in my subconscious for the past seven months, and I'm at the point that I'm ready to really leave social media behind and work around the enshittification in my own way. The thing that I've noticed the past 6-7 months is that Facebook, KZbin, and other social media sites are doing everything they can to keep viewers LOCKED INTO THEIR PLATFORMS so that they will continue to see paid content. So when I post an external link on Facebook, I wonder why it gets buried by the algorithms... unless I pay for "reach." I'm a writer, and I want engagement across multiple platforms. So I'm trying to figure that out. Mewe looks like it's got promise. Anyway... thanks for this video. It made me think when I saw it, and now it's got me moving.

@JaySwanson10 ай бұрын
Haha, for sure. And it's a great analogy, I agree. What gets lost in it is if you suddenly got good enough at basketball to go pro, but to do so you had to scout out your own team, and then coach them, while also selling the tickets (to an arena you need to book) etc. etc. The infrastructure isn't there for the creator in the same way, which is the side that doesn't scale the same. But I really liked his video the most of what I've seen.

Really enjoyed your philosophical musings in this one, Jay. As someone who’s been self-employed in various ways for the past 20 years, I am a firm believer of 10:15 too. If you want a long, rewarding career you need to follow your heart because it’s the only thing you can really trust in life to steer you true and steady on the path of happiness. It does often come with financial or lifestyle sacrifices… but as someone living in a 140 sq ft apartment, I expect you already understand that. 😄

I've been considering leaving. The ads are close to unbearable anymore and somehow I have been flagged and I was not allowed to make a comment that people stealing others things should be a criminal offense and they should be prosecuted. It's going too far. They would not let me post it. I got a batch return and the the comment space was grayed out. So, I'm getting tired of it. There is a lot of great content on here, great people posting, lots of information, but Google is getting way heavy handed. I like a lot about them but find them intrusive, always trying to get into my business and if nothing else, I think I need a break. It's people like you and a few others that keep me here, and things like how I can clean the grinder on my espresso machine. I realize my kind of quitting is not the quitting you are addressing here, but I also wonder if anyone else feels the same as I do about this platform lately.
