This new episode presents the class 12 English essay titled “On Libraries” summary in Nepali language. This is an essay written by Oliver Sacks (9 July 1933 - 30 August 2015). The writer is also a well-known British neurologist and naturalist who has also garnered experience as a historian of science. The writer was born in London, Britain and earned his medical degree from The Queen's College, Oxford in 1960. Later, he moved to the United States where he resided most of his remaining life. He completed his residency in neurology and neuropathology at UCLA.
Neurologist Oliver Sacks once said that our brain is that organ which is the most incredible thing in the entire universe. An interesting fact about him is that he never married and spent his entire adult life being alone. Through his 2015 autobiography On the Move: A Life, he addressed his homosexuality. This video has summarized the essay On Libraries which is one of the best penned works by him.

Easy summary in English: // ESSAYS ----Oliver Sacks, British writer, neurologist and essayist It's a personal essay written in praise of intellectual freedom and community work. Oliver was a bookworm. He spent most of his childhood inside the library his dad made in his house. He felt it very boring to go to school to learn knowledge. He preferred learning through reading by oneself to be more effective. He visited many colleges around the globe to learn a variety of stuff. In 1990s, it was found that students were spending more time on computers than on books. That's why several books were discarded from various libraries. Oliver was devastated to learn about this. To him this was nothing but "destruction of centuries of knowledge" even tho he knew most of the things were digitized. "There is something irreplaceable about a physical book: its look, its smell its heft."
