Glad you mentioned the possibility of mic bleed! Curious how much of that issue you had with this setup? I'm really keen to do a podcast with wireless mics (to reduce the logistics and setup hassle), and have been eye-ing the Wireless Pro, given it's high quality & internal recording capability, but I worry about background noise and mic bleed between guests, given that its lav mics are omnidirectional. And whether that makes editing in post a problem. Would you recommend dedicated pod mics over this? A big Thank You in advance for your thoughts!

Great question! The mic "bleed" is always more of an issue with lav mics so it's not my first preference for podcast recording. Also background noise can be a bit of an issue and in this particular location the room had a very high roof, so it did create extra "bounce". The background noise/bleed isn't terribly hard to remove/reduce with the right editing software. We use Davinci Resolve for our video editing and that has some decent tools for noise reduction. Adobe Podcast Studio also has a "V2" version of their background noise removal tool that can help you reduce unwanted sounds, but I do find that it sounds quite "digital" and "robotesque" after using that particular tool. I would suggest 2 x Rode Podmics if you are wanting a cleaner sound with less mic bleed. That is a dynamic microphone which does a great job of minimising bleed as long as you work on your microphone placement.

@bambymedia thanks so much for the detailed response! Really appreciate it. I've heard similar recommendations about using dynamic mics like the Rode Pod, but I'm trying to create a wireless audio setup just to simplify my logistics and ease of setting up my recording space at different venues. But I have been hearing about these issues with omnidirectional lav mics, and so am trying to see if I can find a good cardioid lav mic that's more directional and less sensitive to surrounding sounds, and can pair with the Rode Wireless Pro

What about the storage ..shooting in 4k
@bambymedia2 ай бұрын
yeh 4k is a beast! it requires a lot of free space on your phone. iPhones shoot 4k30fps at a bit rate of about 45Mbit/s which works out to be about 300Mb every minute of footage. To give you an idea, we shot a series of approximately 30minute episodes recently and each iPhone camera mov file came out at about 11Gb. On the iPhone 15pro and 16pro models, you can connect an external SSD via USB-C and record straight to that (just have to make sure you get a high-end footage capture SSD that can write at fast enough speeds to handle the huge amounts of data from the iphone).

why would you shoot in 4k though? not too many viewers have the monitor or internet speed to watch in 4k
