On My Radar: 6/21/23 Nintendo Direct

Sorry this video is way past due. I've been a little per-occupied but I will focus hard to get more videos out soon even if they are just little side videos.
This direct had some real nice surprises but for what was supposed to be the equivalent of their E3 direct...yeah. Enjoy and I hope you like the sneak peak at the end. :)

I think Mario RPG remake does have new bells and whistles other than a visual update, if you were to look at the trailer again you can see some of the new mechanics for the battles

kinda unfair saying "it might be updated visuals" despite them showing battles that have new mechanics like the "!" for blocking/attacking, that new action gauge which might be for a new battle mechanic, and a chain/combo system that can/will boost your characters

Yeah, I'm in the ballpark that the Sora amiibo will be an amiibo 4-pack featuring all four costumes, and they will not be sold individually (well, at least not in America). Why? Because it's the only scenario where the Mouse gets the most money out of it. 😆

And the funny thing is, Disney needs all the money they can get. They are in SERIOUS trouble and I'm grabbing some popcorn and enjoying this. For those reading this and don't know: Disney pretty much HAS to BUY Hulu by 2024. That's locked in, and it'll cost them at the very least 9 billion dollars. According to Mexican IronMan (Non-youtuber but helps a lot of youtubers and who works in accounting and by Disney's own admission on their website.) they only have about Two Hundred million in liquid assist. Yes they have about 120 billion in assets, but it cost almost that same amount in liability (pretty much keeping the lights on). They've had nothing but duds this whole year (except GotG 3 which broke even), attendance at the parks is drastically down while Universal is up. Things are not looking good and drastic changes will need to be made, and that's assuming the shareholders don't stake a revolt before hand.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder was absolutely the highligt of this last direct. I was SCREAMING when they revealed Daisy was playable, because I've been wanting Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, Birdo etc to appear in a mainline Mario game for YEARS, and we finally have Daisy at least! 8D Super Mario RPG was also cool, and it looks like a pretty faithful remake. I'm very intrigued about the Peach game. Wonder what that's about. I agree with you on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. Not the biggest fan of that game, but I hope this does lead to more 3DS remasters.

Super Mario RPG was an important high light for me all because it's Nintendo & Square on good terms again so it gives me hope they will do a Xenogears Remake by Monolith Soft exclusively on the switch

before watching this no joke i just got the same batman arkham trilogy on sale on steam for like ten bucks. Still considering it for the switch if it's optimized well enough but still looks and plays good.

About SMRPG, the remaster is adding an Action Gauge mechanic AND potential AOE from physical attacks. BTW, did you know that Axem Black counters attacks with Spritz Bomb? Yeah, expect rebalances. It's why the physical attack AOE is enough to have me want to get a Switch, as soon as I can get the issues surrounding my parents' house to stop undermining my money supply. And, of course, I do have something to say about Kid Icarus Uprising. I agree that it too needs a remaster with rebalances. I'm up for talking about it because I have so much more to say about the Power system than what Sakurai unfortunately bothered with.

Well that's good to know the combat system has been updated for Mario RPG but I feel I need to actually see it in action so I can get a better understanding of it.

These are more spread out for the games I don’t really think I got to mention: Mythforce: It’s funny because it looks less like a Saturday morning cartoon and more like those weird CGI cartoons you would find today on Netflix. But I get 3D animation wasn’t exactly common throughout those years even though I do think there’s a way it could be done. I’m probably not getting it either way, I just think it’s funny like I said. Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Making a brand new game on the same system when it looks like it could have easily just been DLC for the first game I think is starting to bother me more and more and this is coming from someone who liked the first game. And even if this one REALLY has a hook, it’ll probably just go down in price after a few months so it still might be wise to wait. Can’t say I’m excited about Nick All-Star Brawl 2 likely being around the corner either.

I probably expect KI:U to be ported 1-2 years or so down the line if Sakurai whistling down a KI:U (don't have a porter yet) is to be expected. Metroid Prime 4 is getting a Switch 2 port. I've given up on it being a current Switch console.

@@cjszero01 I recommend Ex Zodiac, Astebreed, or Fur Squadron as successors to Star Fox. There's an upcoming game called Aero GPX on PC that is based on F-Zero Gx.

It's weird , but I think I would actually prefer to play Mario Wonder from right to left. And I'm not entirely sure why , it just looks better to me.

Even if we don't get a remaster of Star Fox Assault, is it too much to ask that they at least continue the story continuity from it instead of just making more and more remakes/rehashes of 64 (which was already basically a retelling of the first game)? Just give us back Krystal and Panther, dammit. Two of the best characters in the series are trapped in canon limbo, and nobody seems to care.

Honestly, if there's ANY GameCube games I'd love to see a remake/remaster of, it would be the Lost Kingdoms games. The first one is my biggest GILBNOED, and I'm sad that I could never find a copy of the second after two freaking decades. Out of everything shown here, the game I'm most interested in is the SMRPG remake because that's one of the few Mario RPGs I've never gotten... but at the same time, I'm extremely pessimistic about that announcement. I honestly don't know which group is going to be more insufferable: the "Geno for Smash" crowd that's been complaining since at least Brawl, or the older Paper Mario fans that have found something to complain about regarding the RPGs since SPM, _let alone Sticker Star._

I really don’t understand why you mirrored the video the whole way, surely that does nothing (I’m assuming?) and it’s not like people don’t have the entire direct up on their video for a “reaction!!! Video”. Anyway, I definitely agree that Super Mario Bros Wonder is the shakeup the series needs. Pikmin 4 is easily my most anticipated game though.

I just don't want to take any chances. You never know when the youtube copyright claims will detect something and: reversing it, shrinking it, and putting large text in front of it has been working so far. There's even claims on the older videos I did years back that didn't show the whole direct so for me this is working. I've already pre-ordered Pikmin 4 and soon I'll do the same with Super Mario Bros Wonder.

Yeah, SV needs a battle tower. Star Ocean looks interesting. Mainly considering Mario wonder. DK would be OP In Mario. He’d have to play like DKC. Anything else would be blasphemy.

Why wait to get Metal Gear on Series X? Don't you want 3rd party games to succeed on Nintendo's platforms?

It's great that Nintendo is getting so much 3rd party support, but they also need to be able to stand with the other consoles. The Switch is basically the PS2 of this generation and if you have another more powerful console, it's worth it to get that version. Why would I want a choppy, laggy, version when I could have the better running and looking version (Not to mention a better online)? Nintendo will have to improve their specs greatly for whenever their next system comes out.

@@cjszero01 Nintendo doesn't have the same financial wherewithall to do the same exact thing as Sony and Microsoft do. That's primarily why Nintendo dropped out of power race during the PS3 and 360 days. They didn't have the same amount of resources back then compared to the other two during the 7th generation of gaming. Plus, Nintendo didn't have a choice either because of Sony and Microsoft back then. That would be like saying Sony has the same amount of resources and income to do a Game Pass copy like Microsoft. The only issue with that is that Sony only can do so much in terms of financial money throw away compared to Microsoft who has all the resources compared to every game developer combined. Just like with Nintendo when it comes to power, Sony doesn't have the same resources to do what Microsoft does with Game Pass. That was the main reason Sony was so afraid and against Microsoft acquiring Activision-Blizzard to begin with. If Sony can't do something like that, neither can Nintendo! Something so many people still fail to realise the reality of with the situation. I don't mean anything offensive or insulting towards anyone with what I said on my last paragraph, it's just alot of people I've noticed tend to leave out key points when addressing issues in regards to things like this.

@@G.L.999 They don't have the same financial well fare as Microsoft but they are far from not making a profit. Nintendo likes to be cheap when it comes to making a console and that's actually understandable as long as the system doesn't break down after a number of times. But constantly being behind by nearly two generations of power is not exactly a good thing to be known for. And the less said about their online service, that we now have to pay for, the better. Back when they did compete on the same power level (Gamecube), they lacked in many other areas such as Mini-discs not able to store as much memory, not having a DVD option, and the number of online games could be counted on... pretty much one hand. I love Nintendo, but they have to get better in some of their weaknesses. Heck I'm still wondering why they haven't brought back the Nintendo Selects. It really starts to make them look greedy compared to how they used to be. I know I sound negative but that's because I care. If the problems aren't taken care of it can lead to longtime problems and I want them to be around for as long as possible and to be at the best they can be. If I didn't have a Series X or a PS4 then I'd be very happy that these games are on the Switch. I'm happy they are there, but like I said I have the option to play the better version of them. If I'm going to buy it on the Switch then it needs to have something exclusive that makes it stand apart from the others.

I wish you nothing except Happiness, Love, and Light to follow you wherever you go in your life! :) One more thing I might ask, I know you've already reviewed this trilogy of games a long time ago, but do you plan on doing a playthrough of the DKC Trilogy games in the future? I enjoyed your playthrough of DK64 and others, and I was wondering if the SNES DK trilogy games(or at least your favorite in the trilogy) was something you plan on doing in the pipeline of your schedue?

@@G.L.999 Thank you very much for your kind words. Sadly the Time To Play videos are over as Twitch has made them unnecessary. I did stream all 3 DKC games and DK64 there at one point but they don't let me keep an archive of them except through clips. I have been tempted to bring them back but they just don't get enough views.
