Dudunsparce is actually one of my favourites, actually feeling pretty on-brand for something like Dunsparce. And looking into Toedscool, its possible origins based on a mushroom called “tree jellyfish” was a real eye-opener.

I guess I'm just not a fan of saying "this pokemon only exists to be a joke and that's its only value." It's cool that Toedscool is based on something like that, but I just can't take it seriously because of the way it runs.

This list wasn't based on their abilities, moves, or how viable they can be. It was primarily how I felt about the designs and I feel Tandemaus could've been done a little better with more patterns and colors.

I disagree with your thoughts on Violet’s paradox Pokémon. I’m a big fan of tech, sci-fi, and all things synthetic and artificial. And these mons look hype as robots. At the very least you should have given Iron Valiant a pass because of how it’s also a sleek fusion of Gardevoir and Gallede.

Even though I picked Violet as my game of choice, I do have to agree on the Future Paradox forms. As much as I like Iron Bundle, Iron Valient and to a lesser extent, Iron Moth, I REALLY wish they did more with them than Just Roboticized already existing Pokemon. Like, Make Digital versions similar to the Porygon line, Cyborg Pokemon, or Even Rusted versions of certain Steel types like Metagross or Bronzong. Dystopian Futures exist too ya know! Oh, and do something OTHER than just Put Iron at the Begining of their names too.

I do like how Revaroom is incorporated into the Team Star fights, though I do wish it got abilities that reflected those typings such as Toxic Debris or Speed Boost. I'm really glad that at least one of the convergent evolutions got on this list because they really didn't try hard enough to make those Pokemon feel different enough from simple regional variants. In order for it to be a convergent evolution it has to start from a distinct organism and then evolve into something more familiar, not simply recolor the Pokemon. It also really sucks that Paradox Pokemon are incredibly isolated mechanically from their originals. They feel like knock Offs with Ultra Beast stats. Finally, gen 9 has a lot of monotype Pokemon that feel like they really should've been dual type. Espathra is a monotype Ostrich that isn't Fighting or Flying, Orthworm isn't Ground type despite being an EARTHWORM and Klawf is a bargain bin Crustle!

As a defence to the Iron Pokémon: First of all, the Dex entries for the Scarlet Paradoxes are way worse. Firstly, the native Dex (the one from the version the Pokémon are exclusive to) is for both the same; Just a 'it looks like a picture from a Journal'. It's the Dex entries of the other games that have the interesting entries (which is cool, since they are, more often than not, based on exclusive Pokémon from the other game). Well, for the Violet Paradoxes they are more interesting, at least. They get contextualisation for their looks in different ways, like Iron Bundle being believed to be not from the future, but from an ancient civilization, or Iron Treads being an Alien weapon. What do the Scarlet Paradoxes get in Violets Dex? 'Did you notice it looks like this Pokémon?' And that's it. And in my opinion, that is way more lazy. Second, design wise, the Scarlet Paradoxes also have a uniform theme: It's this Pokémon, but Caveman. They do have the more varied designs, but coupled with the Dex only identifying them as 'That Pokémon, but from the past' it's getting more and more lazy, the more you look into it. Whereas the Violet Paradoxes get more going for them, the deeper you look, as they are all referenced as something that merely resembles that Pokémon; They are not future versions of that Pokémon. Third, the shiny versions: Yes, they are all the same for the Violet Paradoxes. But do I think they are the worse Shinies? No. Sure, they have a common theme, but at least they have their own colourisation, unlike the Scarlet Paradoxes, who are just 'That Pokémon, but Caveman', again. And I would even contest the colour scheme for the Violet Paradoxes. People always say that they are just chrome. But did you notice that not all of them are reflective and that they keep their colour panels colours and Carbon mesh? if you made them all chrome (because everything is chrome in the future, ha ha, funny Spongebob reference) you'd change everything to a silvery colour right? So why do they keep certain colour aspects? I'd say, because they aren't chrome, they are unpainted, factory errors that are made more valuable by the fact that they are rare factory errors, just like in our times. But I think, what I ultimately like more about the Violet Shinies is that they have the distinct feature to make the Pokémon look less like the Pokémon it is 'based on'. Which, again, lends into them not being that Pokémon from the future, but merely a future construct resembling that Pokémon, for one reason or another. Iron Valiant is the best example here; In Shiny it looks like it's own Pokémon. Fourth, Name and Typing: I can't say anything about the names... they are lazy. Though I will say that it also made one of the best names, albeit it not in English. In French, they are known as '_-de-Fer'; '_' being the descriptor and 'de-Fer' meaning closely related 'made from iron'. That sounds just as lazy, but then there is Iron Valiant. It's name is 'Garde-de-Fer', which is an amazing name. If you don't get it, well, it's really not that difficult to get, what are you doing? As for Typing: What do you want? Do you want them to all be Steel Type? Oh yes, the fans would love that, I'm sure. Sarcasm aside I really don't see the problem here. Yes, they all have 'Iron' in their name, but those aren't really names in the same vein as other Pokémon; those are classification, given to them based on how they look, it's the same for the Scarlet Pokémon. The name has nothing to do with their typing. Why should it? If at all, it shows how unreliable early classification names are in science, since they often only reflect the appearance and not what it actually is. So, in conclusion: Can you take the Violet Paradoxes as lazy designs? Sure, you can, I see where you are coming from. But leaving it at that ignores the entire design behind them, which is way more interesting than the Scarlet Paradoxes, in my opinion.

The Iron Paradoxes have grown on me since I love the robotic looks on them, and the fact that they made Delibird get banned in competitive. There's also a theory that these Pokémon exist because some Pokémon became extinct in the future so scientists tried to recreate them but stronger to help them survive. Even if this isn't true I still like most of the designs.

Nacli does look exactly like a Rock Mushroom, but that's part of its charm for me lol Although that's a fair stance, the design could've used a bit more too When I first saw Varoom, I thought it was a vacuum-cleaner LOL Toedscool is definitely meant to be goofy. It's hilarious since it's a wood-ear fungus, which is edible (and doesn't run at all), so it just makes me think of it being in a "turkey on Thanksgiving day" situation XD But look at its toes! It's not far off from Sora's clown shoes XD Tandemaus's design is definitely very minimal, and it's apparently inspired by some Japanese brand of family-like toys or things. They've grown on me more, but the design is still lower down lol Yes, I thought Flamigo is just a cartoon flamingo without the "n"...BUT!! I grew extra fond of it when I realised how its body looks almost identical to the Flock Step birds from Rhythm Heaven!! XD The feet, the body shape, the wings...just replace the neck-and-head with the beak and you're set! XD Now, this may or may not further drive home the point you're making about its design, but I can't stop thinking about the Flock Step birds when I see one so XD I think Bramblin is very cute but Brambleghast is kind of meh. Like, it's trying to have a dread pirate face like Dhelmise, but it's bootleg...lol I'm going to continue to be a time travel-denier, I don't think the Paradox Pokemon are from the past and future at all, but are just normal Pokemon mutated by the Tera crystals. There's even a line that mentions how the Tera crystals give energy to Pokemon and also optimise machinery (like the Zero Lab), so that would explain both ends here. That way, I don't have to believe in the dystopian future where all organic life gets replaced by machines...lol Well, Dudunsparce is just hilarious because Game Freak was like "you guys really want a Dunsparce evolution? then here, have Dunsparce but even more Dunsparce" LOL In terms of meh designs, Pawmi-Pawmo-Pawmot is pretty underwhelming, they just stand up and get bigger lol I was also hoping for not Wugtrio when it evolved, but it really is just water Dugtrio lol But after reading the dex entries about how vicious they are, and how they live in a rock, I'm thinking Wugtrio is meant to be like moray eels, in contrast to how Wiglett would be garden eels. But their designs could've used patterns, like spots or stripes

@@cjszero01 I’ve heard some weird theories about them, and this one isn’t as out there. Other ones I’ve heard are that they’re from the imagination and made physical by whatever is below the crater (implied to be an unknown Legendary or something like that) and thet they might be an interbetween of Ultra Beasts and regular Pokemon, as if from realms less extreme in differences to the main one
@justinjyeung
@justinjyeung Жыл бұрын
@@bradleydevron I thought about that one, that these are like Ultra Beasts, and that essentially would imply that ALL Pokemon came to the Pokemon world from their own "Ultra Beast dimensions" through Ultra Space. And that Scream Tails are the original form of JIgglypuffs, but when they came to Earth so many years ago, they gradually naturalised to Earth's biome and became Jigglypuffs today. But that's a bit far-fetched for my liking so I'm not buying into it...for now XD
@bradleydevron
@bradleydevron Жыл бұрын
@@justinjyeung That theory to begin with is a bit far fetched. I doubt that every single Pokémon is otherworldly in origin, and consider this: I wasn't trying to say that, but that the Paradox Pokemon in this theory were simply in the same shape as existing Pokemon by virtue of ecological needs that led to similar traits, like how Diglett and Wiglett are convergent in their body shape.

@@bradleydevron Don't understand why I'm getting the 3-point list like you're Playmaker. Continuing a joke doesn't guarantee that it stays funny or clever. For your second point I can see only positives in people having fun with it and enjoying it. If others feel let down by it I only think it's fair to validate that idea as well. Hey, Do not bad mouth Bruxish. Leave my pretty fishy alone. -I don't understand the hate for Veluza at all. Designwise, it is a psychic fish that fillets off unneeded flesh to make its psionic abilities stronger. How cool is that? Although I will say it makes me think it's more befitting to be a ghost type rather than psychic... -I love Revavroom, he's so freaking silly, and I'm pretty sure that's the point. Although you do have a point, having object pokemon be a ghost type makes them better overall. -IT'S CONVERGENT EVOLUTION! Toedscool and Toedscruel aren't regional forms of Tentacool/cruel, but a mushroom that evolved to fill a very similar ecological niche, just on land rather than in water. And come on, have you seen their shinies? Amazing! -I... Alright you bring up a good point, Tandemaus is a little bland, even though I love the little guys. Even the shiny is hard to notice because it's the hard to see clothes that change color (the same goes for Maushold). I feel like the design would stand out more if they had cool patterns you could fine that were different based on where you find them (ala Shellos) or having the shirt and pants on the main 2 be a bit more pronounced. -OK I'm not even going to defend Flamigo, it's the One generation 9 pokemon I actually don't like. It's just a lawn ornament flamingo with a knot at the base of its neck to ... (checks pokedex)... "Keep the energy in its belly from escaping out its beak." ... OK What the actual f*** were the designers smoking when they designed Flamigo? -It's a possessed Tumbleweed, what would YOU do with the concept? It's silly and cute and is a breath of fresh air for someone who lives in San Diego and has to deal with massive pointy tumbleweeds at work any time it gets windy. -I actually have a theory on these guys, the Iron Pokemon are Cyborgs not robots. Look at them; They eat, they sleep, they have emotions, they feel pain. None of those things are possible for a robot because they lack an organic brain. The Iron Pokemon are an organic form in a cybernetic exoskeleton. Kind of an easy transition for Volcarona, swap Chitin for Metal. Also Iron Jugulis is almost certainly a Cyborg as the offspring of a Hydreigon and a Robot... don't think about it too much. And Iron Hands is confirmed to be a Cyborg by the Pokedex. (side note for all of the Paradox pokemon, most of the actual lore info comes from the other version. So we get more info on the Iron pokemon from Scarlet's pokedex, and more info on the Ancients from Violet's pokedex) Agreed, it would've been better if we just got the water and fire Tauros. The "regular" Paldean Tauros feels unnecessary by comparison. Do not blame Dudunsparce for your feeling disappointed. Dunsparce was made as a joke pokemon from the get-go, yet the community spent the last 20 or so years hyping up the little guy to become a mighty or majestic dragon, when that was never what it was based on! I am part of this group. When I set aside my expectations and looked at Dudunsparce OBJECTIVELY, I grew to love the little guy.

In regards to the Pokédex entries for the Violet Paradoxes, in general the Pokédex entries for the Paradox Pokémon are bad in their respective versions but not the other version. For example, Brute Bonnet's Scarlet entry says "It is possible that the creature listed as Brute Bonnet in a certain book could actually be this Pokémon." while the Violet entry says "It bears a slight resemblance to a Pokémon described in a dubious magazine as a cross between a dinosaur and a mushroom." Likewise, Iron Bundle's Violet entry says "It resembles a mysterious object mentioned in an old book. There are only two reported sightings of this Pokémon." while the Scarlet entry says "Its shape is similar to a robot featured in a paranormal magazine article. The robot was said to have been created by an ancient civilization." Both are kinda bad and really pushing the player to read the books in the academy that talk about the Paradoxes (and the fact that the books in the academy are version exclusive is the only reason I can think of why the descriptions are better in the opposite version), but it was worth noting.

I guess good evolution designs for old pokemon were... sparse this gen, then again Annihilape is alright. would have liked it to look like a wise old man at peace since an old pokedex said that Primeape when they die look peaceful but instead he got even more angry. One of the ones that disappointed me the most was the Fire/Fight Tauros. I hear 'Fire Bull' and my first thoughts are the Red Bull from The Last Unicorn. The new Tauros forms just leave me num. Lechonk just makes me think of the pigs from Wind Waker so I feel like he just swam to Paldea from the Great Sea, Squakabilly... eh. just looks like a parrot with a bit of hair stuck to their forehead, Tadbulb is just a yellow lightbulb with a painted on face and tail, Frigibax... I don't know why but he reminds me of a Muppet meanwhile the ONLY Treasures of Ruin I like... is Chi-Yu. the freaking goldfish, and that's mostly because of the Magatama that orbit the eyes reminding me of Okami. The Wo-Chien and Ting-Lu, the Snail/Deer [or Moose?] just... feel both lazy and in the snails case a bit over designed. I LOVE the idea for a Snow Leopard Pokemon but what we got in Chien-Pao... Why have the sword as fangs? Couldn't they have made the tail a whip-sword? Is that funcional IRL? I doubt it. Does it look cool? Yes. plus Chien-Pao just makes me think of a Weasel more than a leopard

Flamigo is a funny birb to me. Absolutely had to use one on my team, even it took a long time just to find. (because I didn’t know it could be caught in earlier areas) Decided to name mine Grace. I do like the robot Hydregion, maybe it’s because I am biased to Gen 5 things or it is the colors.

I can’t agree with the majority of this list, especially with Nacli and Paldean Tauros. Nacli is supposed to be what grains of salt look like under a microscope and the rest of the line represents salt mining. Paldean Tauros is a Spanish fighting bull, which are commonly black bulls that matadors (bull fighters) fought, hence the fighting type.

When TPC isn't forcing Game Freak to release a game in time for the holidays they can make games that stick with you forever like FRLG,HGSS,ORAS,Platinum,B/W 1&2 and yes even the 3DS games also Legends Arceus they had effort,passion,and care put into them from the story to the Pokémon designs with S/V all the life was drained from them making half assed concepts and an underwhelming experience why on earth would they just slap Dunsparce and its fans in the face for something that was conceived on the spot so now fans are gonna have to settle for less because TPC is unstoppable at this point. The inevitable Unova remakes are going to disrespect what GF was trying to say they already did it with the Sinnoh remakes.

I don’t mind most of these designs, especially the funny looking ones, they’re great. My least favorite would be Wugttio. Wiglett was fine because it was funny looking. It’s evolution just comes off as super lazy to me. This was a golden opportunity to do something new and wacky, but it’s just Dugtrio again. At least Alolan Dugtrio had the funny looking surfer dude wigs

I think the future paradox pokemon definitely got a little bit more of just weird hate, you really didn’t even go into the designs themselves, just was annoyed that they were robots and the name iron was misleading. Sure I wish they kinda did more with the designs for some of the future mons. I really don’t like Iron tusks and especially iron jugulus. Especially when you remember that the hydregon line used to be conceived as tanks and dragon/steel types. They changed it because they thought it was too powerful, they could’ve went with that philosophy, but instead went the simplistic route. Iron bundle is an exemption from the similarity rule, mostly only because it was banned quickly in competitive and it’s incredibly ironic coming from The Pokémon who most looks like delibird, one of the weakest Pokémon of all time. I feel like the others are genuinely good looking. Iron valiant is a fusion between gardevoir and gallade, making for a futuristic fairy/fighting combo with a menacing stare. Iron thorn is just mecha Godzilla, that alone is just awesome. Iron hands has the magnetism hands going for it. And the only one I’m mixed on is iron moth, I mean it’s similar to the three irons most similar to their counterparts, but it definitely has the best design out of those simplicities. Overall, while I agree that most of these designs of The Pokémon look very underwhelming (brambleghast, veluza, flamigo) I definitely feel like this generation is more of a substance over style.

Can't agree with this one on principle of Dudunsparce being #1. It's an amusing troll pokemon and it having an underwhelming evo is literally the most dunsparce thing it could do. Ten year old sequel to "They made a garbage Pokemon? Game Freak is really running out of ideas!" Jokes aside, I do like Dudunsparce. I was in the camp that it was a fun Pokemon and giving it an elegant dragon evolution would ruin its goofy charm, so I groaned when a friend told me Dunsparce got an evolution. But when I took a look at that Dunsparce human centipede of a Pokemon, I fell in love with that stupid thing.

Feeling a bit hyperbolic, but hopefully thats because you're also being hyperbolic for the kind of genre of video. So hyperbolic comment mode go! I completely disagree in every way. The worst generation is 6 and always will be 6 because not only did it have garbage designs, but it had so few pokemon overall. I literally ended up with 1 new pokemon in my team when i played through that gen. Meanwhile here the only reason I didnt have all new pokemon was because I got a shiny houndour. Every pokemon you listed is fine, but some I think you've completely missed the mark. Big arguements against: Flamigo's whole body is a boxing glove, a tumbleweed is an amazing grass ghost combo and its simplicity is what makes it so good, the future pokemon being mecha is literally the most amazing thing that we'd never see without a gimmick like the time travel, and Dunsparce is literally based on a japanese joke! it's not their fault we don't get it. It's like asking for a epic badass evo to Mr. mime it just was never meant to be like that. Ya wanna complain, how about we look at the disturbingly gyrating duck? You have a problem with pokemon mecha when we literally had a computer program as a pokemon in gen 1, but not with a duck humanoid in a skintight outfit shaking its butt?
@unbind_all
@unbind_all Жыл бұрын
The “gyrating duck” is referencing Carnival, which are festivals held in Spanish and South American regions, where performers dance in form-fitting, bird-themed costumes. Whether or not the execution of the design works is up to you, but I’m just making it clear that Quaquaval isn’t like this for no reason.
