the extra weight of the engine on the dingy can cause it to flip over in chop or waves. Never leave the engine on the dingy when pulling it.

Can't believe you saw dolphins right after leaving Ladysmith, I was coming back from Wallace Is. Sunday and saw my first Killer Whales and Iv'e been sailing since the 80's! Still haven't seen any dolphins. That must have been a little scary in the middle of the night with those ships.

it was a real treat to see them.. So many porpoise and whales on te way down the USA coast. many many porpoise including dall porpoises. They whales are a bit nerve wracking at night.

Avila is a nice protected anchorage with a dog beach. Just South around the cape from Morro.

Hi Bill, they are on a motion sensor. LEDs light up the dodger and reflect nicely on the sails.. night time between watches, I leave them on and close the companionway so as to be more visable
