There was an article I read that humans only have so much will power. There's a finite amount of difficult things we can do a day. If work is hard then it's hard to eat right. The solution is to gradually make difficult things a habit. Another solution is to get difficult things done first thing. Going to the gym in the morning means your less likely to skip it. Habits, good or bad, take very little effort. Which is why it is hard to break bad habits.

@__Beant__8 жыл бұрын
I agree. I've been thinking this since they started really. I don't think there is any need to separate meditation from exercise. Especially running. If you practice a form of rhythmic breathing while running, only focusing on your breath and your footfall, you are already meditating. You'll also most likely improve your pace due to being more efficient.
@proodunce8 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It's super difficult, especially starting out. I've been practicing for several years and teaching for about a year, and I still sometimes have a hard time "clearing my mind." There are so many other techniques out there--mindful eating, sound meditations, loving kindness meditations, to name a few--for people who struggle with meditating.

Heya John. Have you considered mantra meditation? If your issue is that you're spiraling into obsessive thoughts or anxiety, it might work a bit better. I've found it's very useful to (as a continuation of your metaphor) give myself a specific car to ride in so I'm not pulled into the other cars that pass by. I'm not saying you need to use some hippie-dippy mantra, either. Use whatever works for you, y'know? I've found that I get similar benefits to mood and concentration with mantra meditation when compared to mindfulness, conscious breathing, or guided meditation. Just a thought I've been wanting to share.

My husband does not watch any vlogbrothers content but he is occasionally subjected to it because he lives with me. He is aware of 100 days because occasionally I share bits and pieces with him. He just walked by this video and said "Wow. He's looking really good". He did not mean it in a sexy thin type way - he meant it in a "he looks healthy and fit" kind of way. So to the casual observer, John apparently is looking more fit. So added benefit - other member of the species can detect the results of your fitness efforts.
