Laura the trainer here! Such a great experience... for all commenting about that they should do more "weight" training. I assure you they were doing so without traditional weights. That's what is great about this series. No, they weren't lifting heavy weights day after day, but look at their health factors.

Thank you, John and Chris, and thanks to all of your trainers, experts and crew, for bringing us 100 Days. When I was 39 (in early 1999), I weighed 264 lbs. and knew I was going to die sooner rather than later. That epiphany shook me profoundly enough to strip me of my complacency and my tendency towards inertia and self-isolation. I immediately started my own journey (mental and physical) by taking a yoga class at the gym at my work and plodding/jogging. In that first year, without any professional help, I lost 110 lbs. I went from being very winded after briskly walking a quarter of a mile to running about 45 miles a week. Running is no longer an option for me right now at 58, due to knee issues. Instead, I crush the elliptical and a stationary bike, as well as do weight training. Even so, I have kept the weight off (I was at 154 last night), but eventually consulted with the occasional personal trainer and a nutritionist when I was hitting walls. More importantly, I also discovered how vital exercise and good nutrition are to me in coping with my depressive illness and damping down the "wolf at the door" of self-hate howling inside me, clawing to take over my brain. Seeing you both on your fairly candid journey together reminded me of what I went through and still do even today. Sharing your journey, even just through the videos, gives me a resource to turn to if I need encouragement and one to share with others who might benefit by your example. I am so grateful you have shared this 100 Days, but there are many more 100 days where you won't be in the public eye. As you continue your more private 100 Days journey, I know want you to know that I am still with you in spirit and with all who embark on their own 100 Days towards heath. By the way, you mentioned continuing to have a goal. I totally get that. I have one, too. If I keep my weight in check, I can eat the best artisan chocolate in the world and drink the best craft beer in the world. 18 years on and I still eating incredible chocolate and drinking fabulous beer. Goal!!!! You guys are truly F*CKING MAJESTIC!

Adding in my own thanks to John & Chris for doing this. It was fascinating all the way through, and though I didn't get into it nearly as much as you guys did, you did inspire me in part to start adding a bit more exercise to my routines. John especially had a noticeable personality difference, there has been none of the usual pessimistic/realistic morbid nihilism in his podcasts and videos lately. His mood seems much improved, which is the most noticeable thing from my own perspective. Maybe it would work for me too...thanks again guys. Hope you find something to collaborate on again in the future.

Thanks so much for this series, John and Chris. I definitely didn't do the steps you've made towards health, but I did make one big step around the same time: Jan 1st was the first day I felt the antidepressants, the first ones I've ever started on, really affect my mood and productivity, and they've been working great for me ever since. I'm graduating college with a BFA in June and I don't think I'd be doing it nearly as successfully without that, and hearing your talk about exercise helping with mental health has got me thinking about adding more in the future, John. I started going on half hour walks 2-3 times a week, now, which I've found can help me focus later in the day, and I'm hoping when I move to a new city I can get a pool membership, as I've always really enjoyed swimming (and have been recommended low-impact exercise by my doctor due to slightly weak joints). My eating is still... about as dismal as most college kids, but I've slowly been able to get the exercise and concentration to improve it bit by bit, and considering the effort of boiling pasta felt like too much effort last fall, any improvement is steps I'm glad to make. This series has been great to watch and is reminding me that it's never too late to make good health decisions in my life, and I hope I'll continue to improve through the years! Cheers!
