I love seeing you and Gwen interact. I've described you as "the most emphatic film maker" to my friends, and when you are being silly with Gwen, it shows a whole different side of you. You do a fantastic job, and I hope to see lots more films. The next time you come to Seattle I'd love to buy you and Jeremy dinner, compare vehicles and swap crazy places to explore. Well done. As always.

Regarding your final comment on the warranty video getting so many views. The way to get views on KZbin, Facebook, in fact any social media, is to make something about a contentious issue, something that will stir people up. All these platforms are designed to promote content that is likely to stir up aggression. The more angry people get, the more they comment and the more the video gets promoted. Sadly (and the original designers have confirmed it) these platforms are deliberately designed to be addictive and aggression promotes addiction while pleasant content does not. We have found that the videos we make that take the most effort and most money, often do much worse than something that only takes minimal effort to produce. That doesn't mean we give up on making what we consider to be our main content and just produce stuff that gets views but it can be rather disappointing.

I agree. Just look at how many views he got on his video recommending gifts for overlanding compared to this one. My only additional comment is that people like shorter videos. I find it takes me a week or more before I get enough time to watch an entire Andrew video without interruption from kids and life/wife.

Your comment about running the engine before setting out. My husband's father did this for every trip to town for 15 minutes and the town was 20 minutes away. Drove me crazy, bless him.

Andrew if you have the time, it is possible to save the noisy audio like in that one clip. Check out Izotope RX audio restoration software. It’s super powerful software if you learn to use it properly, but unfortunately it takes a bit of time.

That “bush cruiser” is an Iveco Daily 4x4 and is a heavy load vehicle. They’re allowed in the parks but are supposed to be charged at heavy vehicle rates, P1000+ per day. Most the people at the gates don’t know this, and charge at normal vehicle rates.

Pity though that it’s an American owned company . Hopefully more viewers will support the Australians giving us these great clips . Again love your work Andrew and I look forward to the next adventure.

Many thanks for your excellent videos. We toured almost the same locations back in 1998. Series 3 109, 3 adults, 2 youngsters in one vehicle. Short embarrassing story, bathroom humor. Certain bodily functions need attention, normally associated with a shovel,,,,, :-) We hated leaving traces, especially paper that never seems to decay. Solution,,, small cans of lighter fluid to destroy as much as possible. At Kubu Island, we camped exactly where you show. One of our party wandered off with the shovel, lighter fluid etc. Unfortunately his / her judgment on the lighter fluid was 'generous', the sounds of the night were drowned by wails of concern, the night was lit with a wonderful yellow glow. The only damage was to a certain youngsters pride. 20+ yrs later the memories are still fresh. We loved our 2 yrs in Africa.

I just had a great laugh about the scene when the elephant shook your vehicle and Gwen overslept it. Something almost identical happened to us when we went camping in Namibia three years ago. One night, about 2 o' clock in the morning, I was awakend by lowd growls and roars of a lion very close to our camper. I shook my wife and told her to listen. She made a 'hmmm' sound and kept on sleeping. Three more futile attempts to wake her up with the same results So I gave it up, layed back and enjoyed the sounds of Africa. Next morning me to her: " Guess what. There was a lion roaring very close to us last night. Shewith big eyes: "No kidding? So why didn't you wake me up? Me: "I have tried , but you wouldn't. So I've let you go on sleeping" Then: All hell broke loose!

About warming up the engine - if i dont do it here in the f.... freezing cold (ie flat out the darkest and coldest days of the yr here now in Norway) and i have no visibility through my icy front screen, i either 1) crash coz i dont know where i am, 2) i get a (heavy) ticket coz im not supposed to drive at all or 3) both,,,, so i idle and idle and idle, but then again, there are no grumpy overlanders anywhere in my neighborhood, just some moose and forest trolls ...

Hi Andrew, loved the series but I am curious about whether you came into contact with predators. It seems like they were not really a concern whenever you pulled over to have lunch or set up camp, is it really like that or are there predators everywhere but just not seem, thank you and cheers from NSW Australia.

@ the 20 minute point. Warming up your engine, my pet hate too. This is such a foolish practice, best to drive normally up start up so that the whole drive train warms up not just the engine All moving parts need to be at operating temperature to operate optimally.

Nice to see the 'other' footage. There has to be plenty of good stuff that doesn't quite make the cut. Your extra passenger (mouse/rat) presumably found its way out in the end. We had one (a rat I have to assume) join us in our travels when we were going round Australia in our old '62 Bedford bus. I only knew about it after it died and started to STINK. It stank way too much to be something small like a mouse and it did so for weeks and weeks. It got so bad that I started pulling riveted panels off the bus but even after that I still never found it. I am with you on the warming up engines nonsense. What is wrong with people? You only need to have the engine on for a minute at most and some dills just keep the engines on for ages. They will even sit there and talk to each other for what seems like forever.

Andrew, fantastic series! I hope to follow in your footsteps in trip #4 and am really excited about the opportunities in Zimbabwe. A recommendation and I have watched and gleaned a lot of info from your videos!. TRIP TIPS! The comment on ticks is what stirred the idea. How about a series on Trip Tips - ticks, wildlife, staying in parks (not many people from North America understand the different rules for Africa National Parks versus how they are here), buying food and fuel, tips, public markets, Camp Car Rentals, situational awareness. Overlanding in Africa and other parts of the world is much different then in North America or other free well developed countries. I love your series and get your point on being a supporter - I will check that out - thanks for the chance to provide feedback.

Andrew, I love your productions! I have been watching them for... quite a long time. Everyone of them is the best one. Every video is a part of you, your life, your experience that you decide to share with us. Thank you for that! Your content is very high quality, I would even say many TV programs should learn form you. The point is that people are often more interested in those shitty series and comedy style nonsencial ... things. That's a pity. And I understand it may be frustrating. But don't worry, keep what you're doing - there are still people who can appreciate your work and how much heart and effort you put in it. I personally wait impatiently for every video. :) Hope I could make you smile a bit. Greeting from Poland! ;)
