After sanding for the first few hours we did look at other ways to be more efficient. Sand/soda blasting would go much faster but the upfront cost of the equipment and preparation simply does not pencil out for a project that is less than 500 sqft. This yard does allows blasting, but requires that we bag the boat to contain 100% of the media. Side benefit, our forearms and shoulders are getting really defined. 💪💪

Not a criticism, this is just an honest question. Would it work better to use a grinder with sanding disks and a dust collection shroud? I have seen others using that setup but they also wore coveralls and a better dust mask. Can you share more info on this and other options in future videos? I am so sorry for your loss whatever it is and said a prayer for your whole family. God bless!

You can use dry ice blasting, I seen it used for cleaning up fire damage lumber in houses, a lot less mess and you can hire it out.

Don't know what the tragedy was, but when I read those words, my heart broke for you. I feel the same way when I see an old home torn down. Oh the stories that boat or home could tell. People live their lives there. Lots of history. Have to admit I was a little teary when I saw your time lapse of the "jaws" dismantling that boat. But on the other hand, marinas are full of derelict boats that are in their twilight years. Its also why if you are handy and enjoy the work, you can buy an older boat for almost nothing these days. Between a glut of boats and less people sailing, it makes it a buyer's market.

I personally was into doing the above sanding thing and arm fatigue -- I think towards the end I got a mask on and a rolling scaffolding and did it laying down which was better. But then ya need a person manning the scaffold to roll you around. Those paint chips and plastic and glass dust. Oh glorious sanding.
