I live in a country town, so when I go to the city I go to maccas and by 20 cheeseburgers (i generally dislike maccas but for this purpose the cheeseburger is suitable). When i get home I freeze them and then microwave them when I want a dardy snack. My little indulgence.

Good review but I think people miss the point with these kinds of foods. I've tried this one and honestly, it's not meant to be fine dining. For Three bucks at Coles or whatever it is, a not so great burger supplying 1800kj's of energy is amazing if you're really in a rush and just need fast calories. I keep a few of these in my freezer for emergencies when I haven't eaten all day and am in a rush but don't want to eat something like a bag of chips or something else. It may not be great food, but it is at least "food" rather than a snack.

I just had one! The hack I do is fold one square paper towel and place it under the burger before heating. The bun stays softer.
@PanasonicTooth4 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I'll give it a try. I also found that if you take it out of the little tray just after it comes out of the microwave (within about a minute) the bun doesn't harden much at all, but when I leave it in the tray for a few minutes its always a bit hard.

They're actually pretty damn good. I just recently bought a couple on special after not trying them since I was a kid. I wasn't expecting to be impressed but I was. Pretty similar in quality to a cheeseburger from Red Rooster (which I'm pretty sure are microwaved too).
@thunderlips3505 жыл бұрын
I had one just the other night. They are obviously nothing special but they aren't terrible. I got mine from Coles for about $2.50. Here’s a hack for this burger. Put the burger in the microwave for 1min then take it out, after that take both buns off. Place the patty in the tray and put it back in the microwave for another minute. This makes the bun to not be rock stale
@DerekArmsden5 жыл бұрын
I quite like 'em… but yeah, the bun turns to rock if you follow the instructions. It's better if you nuke on medium instead of high and leave it in the bag, open at one end, then take it out for the resting time. Stays soft then.
@macbookblack2 жыл бұрын
leave the plastic on and just cut a corner then microwave and after its finished let it cool down in the plastic ok then take of plasrtic and eat you find its moist and soft ok greg

I'm a younger guy and tried one of these after smoking a mountain of weed and drinking six beers (so I went into it with the best possible chance) and this shit sucks, I agree the tomato relish isn't terrible but that's what happens when you put a good sauce onto garbage. The buns became rock hard just like yours (which is due to the crisping tray, better than soggy) and every bite I take of the patty fills me with dread knowing this is the bottom-of-the-barrel meat.

You should really revisit these now that the microwave pad has been removed from the package, that grey thing under the burger is what caused it to go hard. These things are pretty darn nasty as is, but if your desperate and these are all you got, throw some Coles Special Burger Sauce on it. The Special Burger Sauce is very close to the Big Mac Special Sauce, and will assist in getting that thing down your gullet. The Chicken Burger one is better if you dump in a decent bit of mayo.
