Thank you for this most important lesson. This is the foundational key to Theosis. This lesson alone is why I'm going to convert to Orthodoxy.

Wonderful lecture. The one and main goal is always the acquisition of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord have mercy on our youth and us all. ☦️💕 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. ☦️

May we all have your blessings, Father Peter Our sons: "Mom! Father Peter mentioned about the thing we read in the Epistle a few days ago." (Minutes 31:53, Acts 17:23). Glory to Jesus Christ for there are still God-Fearing priests with their great love for His inheritance in Orthodox Church! God be with you and your works, dear Father Peter! Thank you for this video and please keep praying for us.

What is precisely purification and freedom from the passions? Does one stop having temptations?
@OrthodoxEthos3 жыл бұрын
The tempter will tempt. If it is of no concern to us, and does not move our hearts in that direction, then we have reached a state of dispassion, that is, when the passions do not move within us or overcome us.

Thank you for this talk, Fr. Peter. Towards the end, you say we need a spiritual father to initiate us deeply into the mysteries of spiritual life. I have been praying for a spiritual father for a long time. I must not be ready yet. Is my parish priest my spiritual father? How do we find a spiritual father?

I am in no position to guide you spiritually, but I know from another video of Father Heers he speaks of testing the Father by his fruits..does he follow the canons, fight passions, guide according to the faith etc. If you look up an Orthodox monastery near to you I recommend going there to find spiritual counsel as they are our hope in this time. God bless you and forgive me a sinner!

Pray and then go to where you can nearby and ask. If there’s a Monastery nearby, go there first. Begin with someone and then you’ll see. Watch the video and write down the steps that Father Savas outlines for how to choose and then evaluate the relationship with the spiritual father.

Minutes 17:03 1 Corinthians 2 1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith would not rest on men’s wisdom but on God’s power.\ 6 Among the mature, however, we speak a message of wisdom-but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we speak of the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God,a which He destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it. For if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”b 10 But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except for his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13 And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.c 14 The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. 16 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

So to summarize we reach theosis without God. 😅 ...Having been raised in the secular/athiest tradition I understand this very well. Ironically the subtle twist is that we are driven by our own innate creation from and in God to try and attain this ...but without God. And worse, by denying God. Like trying to get a bike to cycle without wheels. It is a well laid plan of deceit. But once laid bare, it is ridiculously stupid. Having been a Catechumen now for going on three years, and securely with my Father, I am starting to sense I am very alone. Are there no living Church leaders who are with the Father? This means the Saints light is not being received and given communion in the Chruch, nor the light of God through those in participatory union. Which means we are forgetting what it is to have the living truth as light and love amongst us. But there is no reason for this and this strange argument seems to miss the point that the uncreated light can take created form eternally but that process can only happen/emerge from new living saints from a living Church body. Can/ does no one receive the light from God and the Saints for this function today??? Talking about it will not change a thing. It must be lived by new Saints in the Church and it then can spread into the communities of God.
