Relatively new to your channel, quickly hopped on board because, really, one of the best channels I've come across, not only for sailing but in general: locations, edits, personality, tips, etc. etc...plus the music and dynamics, and well everything have progressed so much!! What a great effort, quality, humor, everything! Your openness with this journey you're on is so fun, funny, warm and informative all at the same time! Much light, peace, safety and good vibes to you both, Kica and Dan....

Kika, you are very kind, and noble (and a little naïve). We in Puerto Rico, during the first two week after the hurricanes were living through “inconveniences” (like no power, long lines for gas…etc..) no any life threatening condition. Some of us are ashamed that some are trying to get more USA federal funds whining a lot. And they are receiving millions of dollars in support. Let’s helps others Caribbean neighbor islands that need this, including the beautiful people of Haiti.

So there I was testing out the new and highly secret Tesla yacht self mooring system... I had just left the boat and put the fenders out and the boat nestled itself against the shore as designed and then all these hooligans board my boat and override the system. As if that wasn't bad enough 2 days later as I activated the Tesla advanced and top secret self driving dinghy and Kika comes and interrupts the test before the dinghy could return to the boat. Sheesh guys. Kidding aside, thanks for rescuing me - twice!! Love, Absent-minded-Mike

I know people like CQR Anchors but I hated mine and it is now a yard ornament. I got it to set good once out of 30 times trying. It is 65 lbs but all it ever did was plow the bottom...If I was a seaweed farmer life would of been good...LOL. I had a guy who loved his tell me how to set it...It took to much space to do it right. He said "set the anchor on the bottom and let out chain carefully not to pile it up at all making sure it layed in a line from where you want it to set. At about 4:1 scope start slowly backing down and slowly let out chain till it hooks pay out more chain then set hard then adjust to scope wanted." The one time I got it to set hard it took 1/2 of the anchorage to set it...I now have a 65 LB Mantus as my main, it sets hard in a few feet even when the engine died in a strong current it set just as fast, and a Fortress FX-55 as my backup / stern anchor...Never had a problem again. Really enjoy your videos, they are so professionally edited and very entertaining! Been binge watching for like 4 days now and I've made it to here so far! I'm working on my boat now and can't wait to be where you are! My wife will not let me sell the house though...Says we can do it 6 months aboard 6 months at the house...Hopefully can make it so awesome she can be won over to full time but I will take wha tI can get, my friend's wife will not set foot on a boat.

Well done guys!! FYI Rocna was designed by a down to earth Kiwi guy, Peter Smith, right here in Auckland. Years ago when he was trying to convince me I should try his new design on my 40ft cat I was skeptical, but boy was I wrong. That big spade held us in some serious storms around NZ coast. He eventually sold the design and business as he went on a world cruise, but as we know Rocna became world famous, as it really does work. BTW Mansion Supreme is almost identical and is from same design pages.

Early on, you sound like lovesick coyotes. Any kind of foam works great for wind noise elimination, even bed or pillow foam. Yes, we hear the wind with the 4$ windcat on it, but only at 15% of no windcat noise which is acceptable. Cellular foam is still 50% better and usually free. Funny hearing about your low electricity use. 11 minute mark, why not ask the boat next to you if anyone is onboard with a loud hailer? We are so proud of you Queen! I tell EVERY one that their dinghy needs two different painters tied at each time.

That Benateau on the rocks looks a like it may be 40 to 50 feet. Wondering what size anchor and scope they were using.
@daniseakey67734 жыл бұрын
couldn't you hoist the anchor up off of the bottom and suspend it in the water column under way to remove the mud so the chain is clean and ready to store.?
@SailingUma4 жыл бұрын
Possibly. But if it’s too low, you run the risk of catching it on something. We sometimes leave just the anchor in the water to help rinse it, but that usually takes awhile.
