The eighth episode of ON THE STREET WITH!
OTSW is a street photography show that features interesting Street Photographer and shows their work in a natural and unforced way by combining an interview with a real life photowalk. My goal with this series is to give a glimpse into the photographers thinking process and hopefully give useful insights that can improve your street photography.
This episode features tokyo based street photography collective VoidTokyo.
VoidTokyo is a collective of eleven japanese street photographers whose goal is to document the changes that the country’s capital is experiencing. Since 2015, the collective publishes zines of all the members work regulary.
Follow the Collective here:
Website: voidtokyo.media/
Buy a Zine: voidtokyo.media/category/zine
Instagram: voidtokyo
This project will always be free and free of any advertising (ecxept youtube ads). I do this out of passion for street photography. Besides the recording and travel costs of these episodes, I often spent weeks or month editing them. My goal is to travel and visit more interesting photographers around the world and meet them in their hometowns. If you like to support me you can do so via paypal donations (www.paypal.me/samuelstreet), becoming a channel member (kzbin.infojoin) or by sharing my content of course! Thank you very much for the support and thank you for watching!

Can't believe you sat on this footage for so long! (obviously subtitles its a mountain of work) But what a great video. Mostly I want to say how nice Tadashi is, how hard he works making so many photos every month and doing the Rozou Project. And all the other members it's so nice to see them working hard. What a shame 2020/1 has brought us such challenges. But Fujitani said, "If it would be easy, it would stop being fun."

Good summary :D Yeah I feel bad for letting them wait so long. But shortly after this trip the GR III came out and I started with all the Ricoh content. But I think it still works! Definitely got a new vibe now with the pandemic.

I have to say, this made me quite emotional watching it. It made me sad for our current state of affairs, and missing Tokyo, and inspired all at the same. I'm sure there's a fancy Japanese word for that. :) Thanks for putting this together, best street photo content on KZbin by far (and I have a lot of time nowadays to look).

That was definitely one of the most interesting videos on modern street photography I've watched on this platform, it's great to see their different approaches to photography, and a hint of their motivation and their character. Seeing Shibuya so crowded makes me miss Tokyo a lot and I cannot wait for corona to go away and to live in a "more normal" way again. Greetings from Barcelona!

This is how I remember street photography, out in the busy streets with people everywhere. What a great bunch of people in the VoidTokyo Collective, some really great photography between them. As street photographers I guess we all can't wait for things to get back to how they were and to get back shooting again. Thanks for the video Samuel.

My reaction to this is definitely a sign of the times; On one hand, I felt nostalgia seeing these artists being able to pursue their art and a sense of happiness and twinge of excitement seeing everyone being able to walk round, intermingling with one another, everyone enjoying themselves, speaking to one another and eating and drinking in fellowship. On the other hand, I thought my anxiety rise seeing everyone being able to walk around, intermingling on one another, everyone enjoying themselves, speaking to one another and eating and drinking in fellowship. Fucking COVID and lockdown.

Damn that was a good little doc Samuel! I've been living in Okayama for almost 2 years now and the pace of life here and the size of the city here is a totally different vibe from the chaos of Tokyo. Seeing all of these photographers in their element, and hearing their thoughts on what and why they shoot was really interesting.
