On The Third Week of ROCKMAS Rockhounding Life Gave to Thee, Three Fabulous Fossils

Every Christmas, I look forward to steamed dark fruit cake, with warm custard sauce (my Nana's old English recipe & family tradition). Every year I spend the whole month of December making whipped shortbread cookies, pistachio cranberry sugar cookies, chocolate dipped peanut butter balls (tastes just like Reese PB cups), coconut truffles, mint patties, saucepan cookies (some people call them porcupine balls or snowballs) and Peanut Brittle to carry on the family tradition passed on by my late grandmothers and Dad. My children & I then give 90% away to the seniors who are alone at Christmas, our neighbours, friends, and those leas fortune in our community so that my kids learn that Christmas is about giving and bringing joy, not just presents. I'm glad to see that the boys are starting to feel better. Great picks, Nolan! Congratulations, Trevor, on winning the thunder eggs!!!

I love a Christmas ham the most. Even though we no longer do Christmas in our house we still sometimes make a ham. That trilobite is cool! The petrified wood is simply amazing and just absolutely stunning! I love petrified woods and as AWESOME as that fern is I think I still love the wood most!

My favorite is fudge! We only got it on Christmas. My grandma would make many a variety and put it in tins. Everyone got one. It was the only thing we would get from her. And it was always my favorite. The fossils are really cool! And I’m glad that you’re all feeling better. ✌️🌼😃

For some reason food tastes just a little bit better during the Christmas season. Homemade smoked salmon dip is definitely my go to holiday treat! Thank you Nolan for not only gifting those cool fossils, but being kind of an inspiration for my daughter as she has gravitated towards fossils!

Jason, I'm always amazed when I see a piece of petrified wood; it took me years to finally believe that it's actually wood! So unbelievable that wood could get that hard! The best thing to eat is gingerbread houses for me. Then wash it down with some candy cane ice cream and hope that your stomach doesn't hate you afterwards lol. BTW I highly recommend Arisaig for interesting fossils, all Silurian in age. Some neat volcanics nearby as well (rhyolite, basalt, tuff, ignimbrite etc.)
