saw Material Issue open up for INXS in 1994 in San Jose. Excellent live.

Hi Bret. Allie X is awesome! I think you described her music fairly accurately. Good to see harmanos Gutierrez making the list. GLJ’s immigrant is such a time capsule. Always takes me back to middle school era. I could never get into Faith No More. I do like some songs of theirs but from random albums. My favourite FNM songs are Ricochet, midlife crisis and we care a lot. Always reminds me of the Paul shore film Bio Dome. Happy listening!

Hey Yas! "Midlife Crisis" is such a good one. Yeah man, we got the two most recent Hermanos Gutiérrez records after that Amoeba feature and then I also remembered you also mentioned them in a comment on a fairly recent video? So good and have been getting many repeat listens over the last couple of weeks. Bio Dome? I don't think I've seen that one!

@@BretHelmsLifeOnThisPlanetBlogHarmanos Gutierrez has been in constant rotation since that particular video. I’ve been in Germany last couple of weeks and have been listening to them just to wind down from the abundance of euro techno which seems to be playing everywhere.

A week ago I discovered the excellent music of 'A Flock of Seagulls'. Initially I thought they were a typical one-hit wonder with their song 'I Ran', and how wrong I was........I gave a listen to their first three albums out of curiosity, in hope to find another gem, and I discovered almost twenty tracks that suit my taste perfectly. They are a new-wave band from the early 80s (I suppose you know their music very well), but some of their songs are almost as dark as the early 'Clan of Xymox'. So, they are far from being a one-hit wonder, their first three albums are exquisite, up to the point when their brilliant guitarist, Paul Reynolds, left the band due to drug abuse. After his departure they sadly never found themselves again...

Hello Alexander. A Flock of Seagulls are totally underrated - "Space Age Love Song" and "Telecommunication" from the debut are such excellent songs. I saw them live well over 25 years ago, but I don't think there were many of the original members left, other than Mike Score. But yeah, far from one-hit wonder status.

@@BretHelmsLifeOnThisPlanetBlog Yeah, the songs you mentioned are great indeed, those are on my list, but my absolute favorite for now has to be 'Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)' from their second album...
