For me the most beautiful part of Majangu is the Corniche up to the Roche Rouge hotel. You see the sea from above and the sensation is similar to that of walking along the corniches of European cities on the Mediterranean

Very nice and no annoying beach or street vendors chasing tourists

I was here almost a year in the mid 1960s. The first part of the boardwalk remains unchanged from then. But it seems to have been extented. I don't recall it going right through to the town. Maybe I've just forgotten. I struggle to hear and I like closed captions if possible. I lived for some months in a beach front resort called Village Touristque. Most likely gone or redeveloped I guess.

thanks for the information. Will try to put captions in English as well as French. I believe the Village Touristique is still there.

as i see Majunga is still half empty although supposedly it is major tourist destination at least for Malagasy i was there about 10 years ago and it seems this place froze in time

Yes, I don't understand the "major tourist attraction", there is not a lot to do there. I'm in Diego Suarez now and love it here.

Consider that it was already like this in 1997. In reality there has been a strong change in the population. They have a more prosperous appearance, they are not dressed in rags and overall they seem to live better, fortunately. This change in the population, I remember seeing it start in the early 2000s and every year I passed through Majangu I saw them better.

@@gordonpasha3126 i still see a lot of pousse pousse in rags and of course half of population out of cities but i guess T-shirts are so cheap especially if you buy used it should not constitute problem, nowadays you could buy used clothes from developd world in many markets population is growing fast, every year for around 700.000 but it is still quite sparsely populated with exception of parts of high plateau still my favorite country

@@danieleverywhere132 Even for me, it is the only African country where I have felt at home even when living for long periods. The funniest clothes were once seen in the suburbs on Sunday morning before Mass. I remember one morning in Antsirabe that in front of the church there were people dressed in tailcoats with top hats because the nuns had distributed bales of used clothes from Europe made of stage clothes from a theater. The only places I like the sea are along the reef like Ifathi, near Tulear

I'm going to Madagascar in 3 weeks for the 3rd time. I love it there. But I dont like how far any ocean is when you land in Antananarivo. I am based out of Antsirabe in the interior south of Antananarivo. I am flying for a few days to Nosy Be as well this time. I have one more thing I don't like. I haven't found a beer I like there. I settle for Beaufort.

yes I agree. My next trip I will probably walk to the domestic terminal on arrival and book the next flight anywhere north.
