I remember the fun I had as a kid with a cane pole. As I look at my high dollar fishing tackle, hum, maybe I need to go back and give it a try. Sure looks like fun!! Thanks Dave

Had to watch this video again. Looks exactly like the little creek me and a couple of buddies would skip school and fish at. Grab a tree branch and some line we would find along the creek and fish all day. Thanks again for the video.

Got my heart pumping with all those bites. You were grinning ear to ear too. Says a lot about someone if they get excited catching fish. 8 lb largemouth are great but mess of hand sized panfish is also fun with a capital F. Thanks for the info. and the vid.

I wish my Dad (his name is Dave as well;)) still had his passion for the outdoors like you still do. He lost it somewhere along the way and got caught up in the "go to work, go to sleep mentality". I live every day as an outdoorsman and love your videos. Thanks for all you do Dave! Hope your family is well and look forward to the next one!

Hi Dave My 3 1/2 year old son loved this and cheered on every catch (loves his fishin). Cane poles are great to teach kids, just size them down a bit and you don't need to stress over your good rod going in the drink. Big thanks for posting this one from two Aussie fans

Dave, you should look into a Tenkara fly rod. Very similar to B&M Black Widow in concept, but collapses to only 2 feet long which is very handy for packing in. Rod is very flexible for fighting the fish and improved castability, no reel necessary by design. Sadly, the only American made model I'm aware of is not common man priced.

You just have the Fishing Hand brother! I've been taking my two boys fishing since they were little and every time we go out, they ALWAYS catch more fish than any of the adults in our group. Did I mention they're only 13 and 16 years old now? Guess I taught them the right way! Thanks Dave!

Most fun I've had watching a video in ages! No matter how fancy your equipment is, you couldn't out fish those little kits. In fact, most closed face kids' reels would have jammed while trying to keep up! LOL I have two dozen rods and more reels, but just ordered a Black Widow from the Pathfinder Store so I could have fun like you did!

The Warmouth is a hybrid cross between a Blue Gill & a Large mouth Bass. They seem to run in the blue gill or sun fish schools most of the time. They still taste just a good as a bule gill.

Hey Dave the very first accounts of fly fishing where by a Nun. Her name was Dame Juliana Berners. She wrote her book " The Treatise of Fishing with an Angle" in the 15th century. She was Europe's first female best selling author she wrote of hunting fishing and hawking. She is credited with being the nun who taught fieldsports to generations of English sportsman. The term Angling comes from the direction of your cast up stream & letting your fly drift down. It was bad form to cast downstream.

rewatching this out of entertainment, it's amazing how such simple fishing can be so fun, I try not to bring a pole when fishing unless everyone else is, usually just a spool of line, some sinkers, hooks and a couple bobbers, a lot less to carry and in my opinion, just as easy to do as bringing your own pole, if not easier since it only takes a couple minutes to fashion a pole from a sapling , tie the line on and set the rig up and you don't need to pack out a clumsy rod at the end of the day.

8 fish, 8 minutes, 2 worms (I'm sure you caught more). I'm assuming about 2.5lbs altogether. So that is roughly about 64 calories, just under a gram in fat, and 13.7 in protein. Not to mention you could have used the smaller ones to catch larger ones. Awesome spot. Great video Dave.

Great monologue as usual. At first, I didn't really care for this channel since it lacked 'studio' quality visuals and sound, but eventually I overlooked them and got soaked into the content. You are as real as it gets. Dual Survival was/is entertaining, but not real, which gets old fast. Your stuff is new and fresh every week -- better than any form of reality show. Thanks.
