DC, I have found that working a spinner like a worm where you let it drop (not quite to the bottom) and pull it up (obviously not in a really weed filled area) works well. Not that you need fishing advice obviously ;). Keep on it brother. You're the man.

That's a real decent fish! Thanks for all of your enthusiasm to learn and passing it on. I've learned a way to catch a musky by hand so far this year! lol I sure wish I had a video of it. Ask me and I tell you one heck of a story. Thanks for taking us along! Cheers Dave.

Dave, I love all of these bass fishing videos. Looks like Ohio has some tremendous fish. Just a quick tip, I've found that with spinnerbaits, 99% of my missed hits are because the fish missed the hook and simply grabbed the plastic trailer. In order to mitigate that, toss a red trailer hook on all of your spinnerbaits and you'll see how many you reel in that are hooked on that alone. I'm not sure what it is about the color red, but bass and pike can not pass it up. Tight lines, Dave!

Nice setup Dave. I'd suggest making or buying a drift sock for that rig to control how fast and how far the canoe drifts. It will stabilize the rig as well and allow you to stay on point longer without using an anchor. I use one with my kayak and they are very effective.

Thanks for doing videos on survival fishing!! Have loved fishing since I was a kid and it is an undervalued as a survival skill because to many fishing is so "mysterious" and not very well understood. Thank you!!! :)

My black hula-popper and mixed color spinner, which now must be replaced, are my immediate go to's when ever i hit the water. If I can't get a reaction with those right off the bat it's time to go home! My red and white long spinner works great too. Great vid thanks for sharing.

15lb Spiderwire Stealth Braid in a Moss green with an Ugly stick and a Mitchell 308XE. Sounds like we use a very similar setup. I'm in Western PA in clarion County so i suppose the waters we fish are a lot alike as well. I went out Sunday most of the day and didn't have much luck with my favorite spinner but... I switched to a Zipper worm and started yanking them in left and right. Love your fishing videos BTW. If i can't be out there myself at least i can watch you fish! LOL

Drilling a few holes in that motor mount plank would afford you some good vertical rod holder storage. Also, I put my trolling motor battery in an old igloo cooler (drilled a couple holes for the wiring to the battery terminals). Great video as always - makes me want to get out on the water!

Dave, why don't you use a bow mounted small anchor to keep your canoe in place? Cheap to set up and it works for me. 25-30 ft of nylon rope, a small pulley (mounted up front near the bow), a couple of loop end lag bolts (to screw into your wooden cross members with the rope passed through), and a small anchor is all you need. The breeze will turn your canoe into the breeze and your all set to fish your slow baits. Try it out and good luck on the next trip.

One thing I personally like to do with my spinnerbaits, is add a trailer worm onto it. I've thrown naked spinners before and had a few bites, thrown a worm on it, and hauled it a boat full in a couple hour period. Seems like the worm adds a little something extra to the action.

Hey Dave, do you wet your hands before you pick up the fish? The protective slime on them is what protects them from pathogens in the water. When a person picks up the fish with dry hands it takes off some of the slime. Not tryin to tell ya what to do, just sayin. That was a pretty sweet bass. The rod you caught that bass on looks like it casts a 1/2oz like a dream.

I've also been a long time member. I've been a member long before Dave was ever famous and barely had 300 subs (btw I was also sub #54 on NutNFancy) and I think Dave is the best thing on YT! Lots of noise and bubbles, you can fish them top water or any other way, doesn't matter you'll catch em. This lake you are fishing looks awesome and I think you would kill it with shads and frogs! I would love to fish there! Videos are great and one day I plan to visit the Pathfinders school to lean from the man himself! Keep it up dave!

Love your videos! You should make one with your dog showing how man and dog have survived together for years and the benefits of having a good dog with you, I'd really appreciate it. Also, have you considered carrying a pack of cheap cigarettes in your pack? Carrying fire and you can chew a pinch of tobacco to put on insect stings to relieve sting and swelling? My common man common two cents. Thanks!

The lighter wait ugly sticks are not as ugly as the big cat. Being mostly black with a section on the top being clear so its easy to see even the slightest of nibbles but keeping there almost indestructible / unbreakable property's and there for inheriting the ugly stick name.

Your comment about the "legal warning" on milk crates is deeply disturbing. It appears I've been innocently misusing milk crates most my life. Used them for everything EXCEPT milk. Usually use them to stand on when reaching for something on the top shelf. OMG ! Does that fall under the separate category of milk crate abuse ? Now I feel like a criminal. Where do I turn myself in ?

I love how you censor comments that have substance or some amount of relevance to the video and then let dumb ones through like; where can I find a milk crate? What is the criteria you use to determine that? Why do you have the approval pending thing anyway? I have supported you with my money at your site in the past and by liking your vids here.Frankly as a paying customer/supporter your censorship bugs me. It would seem you are only interested anymore in selling stuff, and that bugs me too.
