I would remove the polished Centre links by simply brushing them. Would take no more then about 5 to 10 min with a scotch brite pad

My GL0401 arrives tomorrow. How did I get here. Well, I wanted to buy a Rolex Submariner to commemorate my 60th, but as we all know, no one has any. Then, the Tudor Black Bay 58, but no date complication. So looking around, Glycine Combat Sub 39. Not sure I want a Submariner any more.

This comparison would be good, as I'm deciding between these two. I have a Certina DS-1 Himalaya, which is quite impressive. On looks, I prefer the Glycine. Wondering about a quality comparison though.

I think it punches way above it weight! it has a high grade 26 jewel movement, the bezel is perfect and aligned, no backplay at all, the clasp is very good as well cause you need a thin profile on the watch yet it is very secure with push and fould over. The back is very nicely done, it is 300 meter, has lots of wrist presence and its design is not generic, it is a very good brand, Glycine rocks it with its unique style for only 545 euros, around the same in dollars. It is simply very well put together and beats 1000 or more costing watches.

@@amenhotep7704 agree 100%> I have the 36mm version now for almost.six months. Daily wear. Amazing. +5 spd. I put it on a rubber strap because the butterfly clasp didn't cut it for me.

Another spot on review. Couldn't agree more with what you said about the watch. I love my blue version GL0400, also. I wanted to get that vintage Tudor or Milsub kind of look. But, in a modern package that is not exactly the same. It certainly has a number of details that make it unique to it's own. I really do like the 24-hour inner track. It gives it that extra something around the dial and it looks cool with the overall aesthetics. Also, wanted all of the above at a much more affordable price range. They have a great range of color combos in these new 39s (as well as the other smaller and larger sizes). For me, this is the perfect size at 39mm.. What took them so long to make it?! Some small passable niggles. I could do without the polished centerlinks, would have preferred all brushed, but, I am ok with it. It could also use a little extra taper down to 16mm. Lastly, across the Glycine catalog, the lume is adequate. It's a little better than before. But, they can certainly do a little better.

Iti s a 545 euros costing watch. It is just amazing what they put together. Look at yema, for 490 euros you get a 7 dollar quartz movement in the back and mineral crystal. I think Glycine is really great

Very nice offering, wish they'd have fully brushed the bracelet but other than that, its right up my street. Might wait and see what other colours they drop but this blue is nice. Lume is okay, seen better, but still alright.

Hi! I can't decide between the Glycine Combat Sub 39 and the Certina DS Action Diver 38 mm. In your opinion, which is the better watch, which gives a better bang for the buck? (Finish, build quality, movement, lume etc.) I like both designs, but... In one hand, the Combat Sub is a little bit cheaper and maybe a little bit better looking. On the other hand, the Certina's ISO certificate, BGW-9 lume and the DS-Powermatic movement is a big plus. I have only tried on the Certina, but i have no chance of getting my hands on a Combat Sub in my country, so your help would be much apreciated. Thanks!

@@alexlouis8918 I went on a long journey since this comment. :D I bought the Certina DS (great timepiece, no regrets) than a Christopher Ward C60 trident pro 300 (awesome watch, highly recommend it), but because the Tudor black bay 58 was always the watch I wanted (probably that's why i liked the looks of the combat sub), i ended up purchasing that too. So, i could have save some money, if i recognise earlier, that the Tudor was the one i wanted all along. But to answer your question. I never handled the Combat Sub in person, but the Certina is a very well made watch, the only thing i didn't like is the overclasp, which is stamped , not milled, like the rest of the clasp, and i would love to have some more microadjust holes. Oh, and the crown is a little difficult to unscrew.

I had it on my radar for a long time, bought it when they appeard again in the EU store. It looks really cool and it's executed nicely BUT my piece runs +20 seconds a day... I was never a precision freak but this is noticable and irritating... Invicta quality maybe? And the bracelet connection with the case is just bizzare so consider these things before buying.

It's a shame the indices lume isn't brighter, but this is a good value overall. I like the date at 6 o'clock, which I find better than no date on the BB58. Just a personal preference. I would like to see a little horizontal rectangle of lume below the date though, because I do not like an hour that's missing lume. That is being very nitpicky, and it's not a deal breaker. I've also seen the gilt one. My only issue is the bright white lume (still better than green) doesn't work as well with the warmth of the gilt. Tudor got it perfectly right with the creamy lume on the regular BB58. I wouldn't expect that level of perfection on these 39mm Glycines, but something with a touch of fauxtina would be nice. For that reason, I think the blue is the better choice.
