the thing ive always loved about nivada, vintage and modern is they never try to look like a cheaper rolex or cheaper omega like most brands. They aklways come with their own style and that fucking rukles. I'm so glad they are back and i want every watch theyve made so far.

Great review on a very nice watch. I love beads of rice bracelets......cool vintage look, and comfort. The clasp doesn't bother me. Only see it when you take it off.,..put on. Kind of thinking about the black or tropical dial on leather. Sold out for now of course. The gold medallion is a super nice touch!

This was actually the Antarctic Spider case that they leveraged for the Super Antarctic. The original Super Antarctic case looked like your run of the mill case.

Great review but wish you talked about the friction lock clasp action. The stamped section is chosen so that when you flex your wrist the skin won’t push open the clasp, such as the earlier versions of the Smiths Explorer did. The real question is whether or not the clasp action/quality to justify a stamped section

I have the green lumed watch and it's fantastic! I was actually at WUSF on the 22nd and I gave Guillaume a piece of my mind, lol j/k. The guys at NG were pretty receptive to constructive feedback. It seems like most people complained about the small crown and I think they'll be changing that in the next iteration. I personally think the crown is too small, not just from a functional perspective but also from an aesthetic one. It just doesn't look proportional to the case, which was upsized. It feels like they decided to keep the crown size of the original watch while making the case slightly bigger. That Soprod's main spring is a bit tough to wind. I told Guillaume that making the crown a little bigger and disengaging the winding mechanism when screwing the crown in will make things a lot easier while also giving it a more premium feel. It also seems like a lot of folks complained about the clasp including myself. Guillaume did show me a prototype flat link Oyster style bracelet which they're considering producing. It tapered from 20 to 16 mm and was installed on the Chronomaster. Personally I hope the Nodus guys talked to them to see if they're interested in getting that new quick adjust clasp on the latest Avalon.

I received the white lumed version. I too find it difficult to screw down the crown. Also I returned it for an exchange. The lume on the hands versus the indices were different. White on hands, slightly green on the indices.

I love this watch but this brand drives me crazy with how they choose to cheap out hardcore on the stamped clasp. I had a Pac-Man Depthmaster in my hand and was going to buy it until I saw the clasp. What's extra weird is the rest of the bracelet was really high quality. Up there as far as as one of the better quality bracelets I've seen at the price level. If I wasn't such a bracelet guy I'd just buy it and put it on leather orr rubber but I need a bracelet. Sad to see they do to this with all their other models as well.

Just a comment about Nivada, they seem to be more of a microbrand than a Swiss watch maker. Others have reported that these are Hong Kong produced with Swiss movements. Mine arrived after three months totally non-functional. A placement on the timegrapher showed a dead watch. QC is not there for a $750 plus watch. I sent it back to the AD for a refund, with me being on the hook for shipping to and from at $75. Nivada has yet to respond to my message from over two weeks ago. So you may be on your own with this brand.

Buyers beware! I just purchased one. I have not received it yet, but was advised by Nivada that my watch was shipping from Hong Kong. I went back to the Nivada website to verify "Swiss Made" and "All of our watches are made in Switzerland in true Nivada Grenchen authenticity..." So I contacted customer service requesting the country of manufacture. I was given a vague response about fulfillment centers, so I asked directly "Where was the watch made?" The response: "Hong Kong." More than misleading: dishonest
