I have the brown dial version, love it. I have thought about swapping out the display caseback to a solid one, to reduce the overall thickness, but no luck so far finding one that will fit.

the limited edition ginza alpinist is one of the most beautiful dials i have ever seen. i kick myself every time someone shows their's off for not buying one when they were still widely available. now they are impossible to find at a fair price :(

Yeah, you never know which ones will end up doubling or tripling in value. I just enjoy wearing it for the excellent color pallet.

How is the quality of the bracelet? I'm debating between the bracelet vs the leather strap.
@davidc3903 Жыл бұрын
The links are finely brushed with nice flat polished facets on the inner link. I really like this on the bracelet, though the small clasp with only 2 microadjust holes makes it difficult to get a great fit. In the summer, I‘ve switched to a milanese strap or rubber as the bracelet is too tight (or too lose with an extra link). Still, I recommend buying on the bracelet and purchasing a nice leather strap, e.g. a 19mm from Vario

I purchased the mystic forest version recently and was impressed with the quality of the bracelet. Seiko definitely stepped it up with this series!
@AverageBros Жыл бұрын
While the clasp isn't anything to write home about, bracelet and endlinks are some of the nicer ones for Seiko at this price point.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'll get the bracelet :-)

Great looking watch! Great value if you buy like your brother. I have the brown dial version of this on a dark brown canvas band. It came on a nice leather strap. The dial is stunning outside depending how the light catches it.

How does this Alpinist deep lake compare to the Citizen nb1060 12l? Similar color and quality? I have the Alpinist but I also want to buy the gorgeous Citizen.
@AverageBros9 ай бұрын
Not super comparable, the NB is a lot dressier and the blue is way more dynamic. I don't see them competing for wrist time, so you should be fine to own both.
@MafiosoARM9 ай бұрын
@@AverageBrosthis is the answer I was looking for. Thank you😊. The Alpinist is more a every day watch and the Citizen a dress watch despite not having a white/silver dial. Yes I know, there is a silver dial version of this lovely Citizen but I think the blue version is more beautiful and the colour pops more😅

I have this watch and love it. The only thing I didn't like was the protruding clasp so I put it on leather, which I prefer anyway. Accuracy is rather wayward, but that's to be expected from a Seiko.

Brother, please help me with this dilemma: I love this model with champagne dial, and I'm between that one and the mechanical Hamilton Khaki with white dial. The Hamilton I have seen personally and I love it, this Seiko I have only seen it on video but I really like it. Which one do you think would be a better buy?

I bought an SPB249J two days ago . Mine has gained 2 or 3 seconds over 48 hours ! I couldn't be happier with the purchase at Au $ 862 = US $ 575 .

I love mine except for the crappy 6R35 movement. I’ve ordered a NH35 to replace it in case the 6R doesn’t get better. Seiko needs to start improving their movement accuracy if they are going to keep asking $800 to $1000 for watches. I’ve considered GS but frankly I can’t justify the price given how their Prospex line has crap movements.

I hope seiko makes an actually wearable, thin, subtle, classy outdoors watch in the tradition of the original loural alpinist such as Lorier, Clemence watches, and Nivada Grenchin are now making. The inspiration behind these new Alpinists is probably great, and I want to like them, but they are big, thick, and popular-loud, which makes an ironic unsightly contrast with the thin and classy roots: like baseball team wearing cheap business suits...please pick one or the other. It is a basic contradiction. Seiko already makes nearly all of the prospex and presage lines as massive 40-45+ mm and 13 to 16mm thick watches. The good engineering and reliability of Seiko are fabulous, but often 100% of their designs chase the loud man-trash audience. They did produce one small Alpinist re-design for more than 3kUSD... if they can make one...hopefully they can put their undeniable engineering genious into the challenge of making a watch as practically useful as a 1940's - 60's watch. 10mm thck MAX, aim for 8-9mm. 32-36mm MAX. You don't have to stop making supersized watches for the those who crave hyperbole, but please make something for normal people. The demand-distortion is so strong it is completely overwhelming the industry so legible wearable watches are virtually impossible to find even after much searching and trial and error purchases. Please: wearable, readable, (tasteful would be a plus) and the reliable part I think you have down pat.
