On This Day: 10 January 1430 The Order of the Golden Fleece

Philip the Good, Duke of Burgundy founded an order of chivalry in 1430 that still survives today. To celebrate his marriage, he created the Order of the Golden Fleece. Prestigious and exclusive, it made a bold statement of Burgundian policy.

I love this old history. I did some internet searching on Princess Leonor and found a reference to the fact that at birth, her umbilical cord was sent to a cord registry in the state of Arizona in the US!!! I guess the royals do take this royal blood idea seriously.
