Following the pattern of the first passover, the lamb had to be slain on the evening of the passover so the blood could be applied before night fell...passover is on 14th of Nisan. The crucifixion had to have happened on the 13th of Nisan and the blood of the lamb available to be applied for the passover that began RIGHT AT SUNSET (the beginning of the Nisan 14) ....gregorian days of the week are irrelevant in this case as the new hebrew month starts at the first sighting of new moon sliver seen by 2 witnesses and their report confirmed by the high priest. Every year the 14th of Nisan falls on a different Gregorian day of the week. In the case of knowing when passover is without the new moon there is no way to know the number day of where you are in the month of Nisan without knowing when that month started based on the new moon sighting. (The gregorian calendar and the Hebrew calendar do not neatly overlap and they are off by sometimes at least 1, 2, or even 3 days apart. The hebrew months are not static number of days as some months may be 29, 30, or 31 days long (depending on when the sighting of the new moon for the next month is seen to mark to start of that new month. Gregorian calendar months are static in that the number of days within them never change but the Hebrew calendar months are not static.) The Lord was crucified as the high Sabbath (passover) was approaching that's why the legs had to be broken to speed up the deaths of the other 2 malefactors crucified next to Him because the Jewish religious leaders didn't want dying man on crosses during their moedim (passover and feast of unleavened bread). When the Roman guards checked on JESUS His body had already expired (confirmed with the thrust of the spear into His side and out came blood and water confirming His body was dead). The lamb of God had to die (His Spirit exited His flesh body - killing His body as He commended His Spirit into His Father's hands) before the repentant thief died so his salvation would be secured and the blood covers him too.

For when we had eaten the passover on the third day of the week at even, we went forth to the Mount of Olives; and in the night they seized our Lord Jesus. (Didascalia Apostolorum, Chapter 21, verse 14. R. Hugh Connolly, version Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1929). So, that ancient source says the last Passover of Jesus was on a Tuesday night. Lev 23:4 - These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. 23:5 - In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover. Lev 23:6 - And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

It has always seemed, to me anyways, that people who struggle over details concerning Christ typically are more in favor of dismissing Him all together. Then they are believing any fact concerning Jesus.

Jesus died, was buried and raised according to scriptures. Nisan 14 is death, 15 is a feast of Unleavened Bread, His body in tomb, and 16 is Firstfruits, His resurrection. Paul also confirms this in 1 Corinthians 5 and 15. It is not literal 72 hours.

(1) Christ was buried in the evening of Passover 31 AD, which was a Wednesday evening: ------------------------ Matthew 27:57 - When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: Matthew 27:58 - He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. Matthew 27:59 - And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, Matthew 27:60 - And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. ------------------------ (2) Was in the grave for 3 full days (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday): ------------------------ Matthew 12:40 - For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. ------------------------ Matthew 27:62 - Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Matthew 27:63 - Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. ------------------------ Mark 8:31 - And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. ------------------------ (3) Then rose again on the first day of the week (Sunday) before the sun dawned: ------------------------ John 20:1 - The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. John 20:2 - Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. ------------------------ Mark 16:9 - Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. ------------------------

Jesus was crucified during the day portion of the Passover which is not a Holy Day. The meal they ate the night before WAS the Passover. Jesus actually changed the symbols of the Passover from the roasted Lamb to the Bread representing His broken body, and the wine representing His blood shed for the sins of the world (Matt 26:26-28 bc Jesus IS the Passover (1Cor 5:7). He was placed in the tomb before sunset prior to the start of the Holy Day the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread. He was in the tomb 72 hrs (12x2 =24) x 3=72. The Creator of the Lights in the firmament that regulate days months and years certainly accurately determined His time in the tomb. He was laid in the tomb before sunset Wednesday and He was resurrected before sunset Saturday (Sabbath). He was not only the perfect lamb sacrifice but was also the 1st fruit offering detailed in Lev 23:20-11, 1 Corinthians 15:23 which was always offered on the 1st day of the week. This detail escapes mainstream Christianity bc they discount most of the Old Testament detailing the ceremony and rituals that Christ would fulfill at His 1st Coming. Mary was forbidden to touch Him before He ascended to His Father to present Himself as that perfect Lamb sacrifice AND 1st Fruit offering.

Three days does not mean literal 72 hrs. Friday is the 1st day, Saturday is the 2nd day, and Sunday is the 3rd day. Thursday theory is not possible since the two sabbath (annual and weekly) should coincide and not celebrated on two different days...

on the 7th day GOD rested and was set aside for that purpose which we call the Sabbath which by GOD says we should keep that day sacred and honor that day of rest. the Jewish Calander of seven days in a week so what separates the weekdays from the weekends? 4 weekdays and 3 weekends. from the spear in the side and the final word of Jesus it is finished when his spirit left his body.

1) Lk24:21; Mark 16:9: Jesus rose. 2) Count back 3 days & 3 nights = Thursday crucifixion 3) Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on 10 Nisan Palm Sunday, 4 days b4 Passover: = Thursday Passover. So easy a grd 4 pupil can figure out!

In my video, dating of the crucifixion, it is a slam dunk Jesus died on a Wednesday in AD30. I go over the mistakes people make (I also made in the past). Once a person sees the errors, it is a slam dunk it was on April 3, AD30.

Something I have questioned is when did the high priests do the work of securing the stone if there were back to back sabbaths? Mat 27:65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. 66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch. The priests sealed the stone and set a watch. Even though they were concerned with how they acted on these sabbath days.

if you look at Genesis the days starts at sunset. So Sunday the 1 day of the week starts on Saturday Evening at sunset last all day for Sunday, until Sunday Evening. Then on Sunday Evening sunset it is the start of the 2 day Monday, and so on. Also on another note the months start at the first cresent from the dark moon or new moon.

The dates issues is mind-boggling to me due to the difference in Bible and gregorian calendar days... What seems clear (as clear as it seems to me at this point...) is Jesus rose on the third day, on the first day or the week. The women went to the tomb early at dawn that morning morning of the the first day of the week. In my pragmatism, I work back from there considering the Jewish (Bible structure of a 24hr period - 'and evening and a day', the day beginning with the evening and I get this: Jesus died on Thursday arvo, (Which is Thursday for Jewish and Gregorian days) around 3pm (ninth hour). He was buried in the tomb (Sometime on Thursday arvo; but that is going into FRIDAY Jewish evening, after sunset) He rose again on the first day of the week, Sunday morning (same for the Jewish and secular calendars). Working back from the Sunday morning resurrection: For the Jew, he spent 'Sunday, Saturday, & Friday nights' in the tomb... (three nights) He was also in the tomb Sunday, Saturday, & Friday mornings. (three days). That gives three days and three nights. In regards to the sabbaths, the one verses two that same week discussion etc; I'm going to have to chew on that more. But this is my humble offering to the discussion that makes simple sense based on the 'First day of the week resurrection'. Under this viewpoint, Jesus was then Crucified both on a Thursday (Gregorian Calander wise) and on a Friday (Jewish / Bible Calander). If man stuck with God's calendar, and didn't have the Gregorian, Bible interpretation would probably turned out to be much more straightforward lol. Peace and love to all who seek our Lord Jesus Christ, our 'Risen Saviour!'

Very comprehensive explanations. I believe it was either Wednesday or Thursday but definitely not Friday. However I commemorate the crucifixion on Friday with the rest of Christianity. What is important is that He was crucified and He is risen indeed!

Got questions ministries, the gospels prove that Jesus was crucified on a Friday. If you read the gospels the week that Jesus was crucified, you'll only find ONE Sabbath day, which was the Saturday weekly Sabbath day. The reason why John said that Sabbath was a High day, was because it was Passover week. Some people take ONE out of context scripture, Mt 12: 40 and it's 3 days and 3 nights, and they reject the NINETEEN scriptures that say Jesus rose on the 3rd day. The "Sabbath's" plural, is an Aramaic word that was added later, and it's wrong. Because I should be singular.

Was Jesus actually born in the spring? This meant that Jesus Christ's mortal life lasted almost exactly 33 years, and therefore his birth and crucifixion occurred in about the same season of the year. This would have been early spring because the New Testament indicates that Christ was crucified at Passover time, which falls in that part of the year. HE is the BEGINNING an the END an the FIRST an LAST the ALPHA an the OMEGA, born on or around nisan HE is the sacrificial LAMB for HE is the A'MEN

Matthew 1, At the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn towards the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the seplcre. Before the end of the Sabbath, this scripture suggest a resurrection before sunset!
