Wish I had seen this video 6 years ago - my dog was vomiting yellow bile for months - my vet did not seem concerned - then I found blood in it - back to the vets. He had around 100 bleeding ulcers, salmonella poisoning, Vet also found out he had 9 different food allergies IGE blood analysis confirmed. He was raw fed from the day I got him at 12 weeks, - went into anaphylactic shock at 10 months old, started epilepsy at 10 months old. He was reacting to the grains etc his meat had eaten whilst it was alive (you are what you eat). Took me nearly 3 years to heal his gut as he was on antibiotics for 4 months! I refused all meds after that - studied/researched and treated him myself - refused meds for epilepsy. He has been fit free for the last 3 years. You have been my dog's saviour. Your RDFNS course was a great help - and am now doing the ACNS (module 5). Please keep on doing what you are doing. I thank you for giving me the confidence and information to save my dog's life. He would not be here today without the information I learned from your articles and courses. You are never too old to learn new things - I am 71 now.

Would you mind share how you do for your dog? My dog vomits yellow, white foam and also sticky yellow mucus. I make soft chicken breast with white rice and sweet potatoes, sometimes add some kettle to make her full and also feel like nutrition for her. She has been vomiting everyday since two months ago, now she is down to around once in two days. She lost weight from since vomiting and the vet said because she eats homemade food and no nutrition that makes her lost weight. I can hear her tummy running inside after meal or no meals in between. Your advice would be helpful.

I’m here because my dog has been vomiting yellow foamy stuff so intermittently it’s been hard to figure out what’s up. The vet doesn’t know and the more I spend the less they know. This is so helpful. I’ve got my own gut issues and feel better trying these herbs first. She doesn’t have diarrhea. Thank you so much.

How is your dog now, and if better - what did you do? My old boy has been intermittently vomiting the yellow foam for about three weeks. I believe it started when we gave him some left-over seasoned chicken and rice. We usually only give him bland food from before we season it (if it’s a whole food), but this was seasoned.

Well, after spending $$$$$$$$$$$ on vets, supplements, changing food and on an on, you're the only person directly addressing this issue. Even an ultrasound came back showing nothing. So many tests and yet my girl vomits bile at least 4 to 5 times a week. It pains me gravely to watch her go through this, especially after I have tried everything, and went to 'experts' to get this resolved to no avail. I don't know where to go from here, but thank you for being so precise.

My dog has at times vomited up this yellow bile. Your presentation covered all bases and also indicated the reasons why this may occur, allowing me to be vigilant. I always check my dogs' stool, nose etc. There are some other thoughts I have. I have an holistic vet who alerted me to the need to clean around the vulva (peepee exit??) Apparently Hannah has skin that makes it necessary to clean once a week. This morning I did this and was upset at the results of my neglect. My 10 year old Whoodle has had Bravecto once a year (although every three months is prescribed I have never done this, finding a yearly dose enough. I had called this new vet as a week after the Bravecto Hannah was lethargic, did not eat, etc. t I was very worried. My vet found not cause and my Hannah was better. My new vet seemed to think that Bravecto was necessary. My whoodle would get up to 4 ticks a day in season. My reading about Lime disease and dogs suggests that it is not as serious as in humans (there is a lot of detail on the internet)... Perhaps with age dogs suffer from injecting such poisons into their systems. BUT A DOG WHO PICKED UP SO MANY TICKS, BUT WAS FREE FROM THEM FOR A YEAR, INDICATES THAT that the prescribed dosage, i.e. 4 TIMES A YEAR IS UNNECESSARY IF YOU GO THE BRAVECTO ROUTE...others might have experiences with this. I am not going to give Hannah this product, which she has had now for 9 years.

Our 3-year-old Golden had this happen twice in a few days first thing in the morning when she woke up. When we took her to the vet, she did say it was most likely from not having anything in her stomach overnight. I now give her a small snack at bedtime which has made a big difference. I'm definitely going to look into the herbs as well. Thank you for recommending them!

Thank you a thousand times for all the clear, concise, and enjoyable Information the Dogs Naturally articles and videos such as this one give, to the many of us who love our dogs so much it's not easy to find just the right words, or the best phrase. When my Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd would do the "yellow foamy vomit" thing, it was usually due to the "hunger factor," and as I'm learning more, most likely some sensitivity to fats. The Slippery Elm helped her, and I'm so glad to learn that Chamomile and Aloe Vera could be given also. Diet for Dogs is just like diet for people: it is the Alpha Factor in our health journey. And, totally agree with others' commenting here: Watching your dog's licks and checking-in throughout this segment is wonderful! A great dog!

My dogs are 13 years old and have rarely bile vomited even when I fed them only once per day. Since they have gotten older, my yorkie started to bile vomit occasionally in the morning on an empty stomach. I switched to twice a day feedings and that corrected it. However, as my dogs have gotten older both started bile vomiting in the morning maybe two or three times per month. Since then I have cut down on the fat in their diet and that appears to have fixed it. I did not think I was feeding too much fat. However, it is easy to overdo the fat. For example, I was feeding eggs and sardines…both healthy but fatty. I have had to cut down on these foods. I also trim more of the fat off the beef I feed them. I have a feeling most dogs who bile vomit are getting too much fat in their diet. I don’t think dogs in the wild who eat infrequently are going around vomiting yellow foam. I definitely think addressing the fats in the diet could help lots of dogs. Dogs in the wild are eating very lean meats. Even grass finished beef is fattier than what wild dogs eat.
@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM3 жыл бұрын
As dogs age, their sphincters can lose tone and this increases the risk. But I agree, most raw-fed dogs eat a diet that's too high in fat.
@mamabear93893 жыл бұрын
@@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM Great point. I do think I was guilty of feeding too much healthy fat though! However, bile vomiting is rampant among all dogs, young and old. Feeding more often or snack before bed is only a bandaid fix in this case and unfortunately people who do not make their own are stuck with high fat options.

Thanks for the vid, very helpful atm. My 6yr old, 80# dog has been acting lethargic and hasn’t had much appetite since yesterday. Today she ate her normal diet in the morning- cooked chicken and white rice, then she puked it back up around 5:30p. Lots of yellow foam, but also chunks of undigested meat and rice. She was feeling good on Friday evening on her walk, poop normal but not much quantity. Saturday she didn’t feel like walking (not normal) and another small poop. Today she didn’t want to walk and not normal poop (slimy). Also was shaking her head a lot like she does when she has an ear infection- don’t know if this is related or not. Any thoughts on what could be going on with her? We’re thinking maybe a blockage, but that’s sort of weird bc she isn’t a chewer and doesn’t get into things. Maybe she’s constipated?

Thank you for this information! I believe that another common but not-yet-proven cause of hunger pukes in dogs is H. pylori infection of the stomach which is quite difficult to cure and does not resolve on its own. A previous dog of mine many moons ago did that pretty much all his life. For some hours prior to puking he would not want to eat and have pretty noisy borborygmi... That would happen pretty much every time he went too long without food. H. pylori was the cause, treating him with antibiotic did improve it a lot but only a quick temporary fix because the bugs would always come back and recolonize his stomach lining... Over time we found that making sure he had food in his stomach at all times so to counter the effects of the acid on his stomach lining. The thought of giving him an antacid hadn't crossed our minds...

We adopted a local stray dog the day before yesterday. He seemed happy besides being skinny and frail. Today, however he was feeling ill, we asked a vet and was told that he's suffering from gastric so we gave him medicine. After a while he vomited once (the vomit was not too foamy, it was watery), we let him rest for a bit. Now he seems to have lost his appetite and is sleeping the whole day, he is also looking more feeble than usual. Can you please tell us if he's facing any serious health issues?

I will add one more unfortunate cause. I had a five year old miniature schnauzer years ago that was just fine and all of a sudden one morning, she vomited yellow liquid and then her energy level continued to lessen during the day. I monitored her and overnight, she became almost lifeless. I took her to the ER and she had autoimmune hemolytic anemia. She died in front of me at the vets office the next day. I have never gotten over that experience, the suddenness of it all, and the young age. Horrible.

Hello, I just wanted to tell you, so sorry for your loss. I have had dogs all my life, 1 dog nearly died of this, months of steroids, which we finally weened off, and he survived. 8 Years later, another one, My Lucas, passed away at home, after about 5-6 wks of treatment, this was 3 yrs ago, he was 7. FYI, to all, I always check my dogs gums, easiest way to check for anemia, another sign, if your dog is hard to wake up, before the lethargy starts in. Get to the vet asap, the lower the red blood cell count the worst for recovery. Even Cornell Animal Hospital, couldnt figure out why. My experience, if you ever have these issues, check for worms, and anaplasmosis. Loss is always unbearable, I still miss Lucas everyday, 3 years later, but don't let that stop you, from giving that love to another.

Mine is doing this without fail if I don’t give her a scoop of food every six hours. For the first year and a half of her life, she would only eat approximately 7 AM and 7 PM. Never had any issue. And this is how I’ve done it with all my dogs. some of them would do this vomiting on occasion which we have come to know as generally not a big deal. But with our current dog, if we aren’t right on the money with giving her a scoop of food, every six hours she 100% will do this every time. I’m literally about to take her to the vet today to see what is going on because it has been weeks of this and we have tried switching the times that she has eaten in various ways until we ultimately just decided to try every six hours which we seem to get by with no pukes for the most part as long as we are on time with it. She has zero other symptoms of being uncomfortable or irritated in any way whatsoever. She acts perfectly normal. But she will literally tell us that she has to puke by going to the door and it’s almost as if she holds it in until we are able to let her out and then she does it outside. Exactly like a dog telling you they have to go outside to pee. She definitely knows when she needs to do it and lets us know. The reason we had kind of assumed that it was hunger pukes was because she isn’t acting like anything else is bothering her in any way. But it just seems like it’s still too easy for her to do it and it just doesn’t make sense so I’m taking her for a checkup and possible bloodwork today.

Hello Dana, Thank you for all that information. My dog throws up yellow bile almost like once a month. My previous dog did that as well. The one thing that was in common with them was that they were both altered females. Would that have anything to do with vomiting once a month and it being yellow bile?

My mother’s Maltese/poodle mix has vomited yellow bile often her whole 15 years. The vet says it’s a common thing in that type of dog and gave me Cerenia to give her daily if she vomits several days in a row. But instead I’ve been working with her diet and it seems better controlled. She only vomits occasionally now.

Thank you for such wonderful information! My dog vomits almost once every week. Vet had confirmed she has no pancreatitis nor any disease. We give her snacks and break her meal to few times a day but sometimes she just wouldnt eat and the rumbling tummy and vomitting will happen. And if she eats, it will be with much coaxing, playing and trying to make eating fun for her. Will her almost weekly vomitting harm her gut? We notice some red bits in her vomit which are definitely not food as she has no food in that color. From talking with other dog owners we think it might be her gut lining. Any advice/solutions for us, please?
@DogsNaturallyMagazineDNM3 жыл бұрын
Has your vet considered ulcers? This can be common in dogs taking prescription meds. It could also be SIBO possibly. If this was my dog, I would try Gut Guard for 30 to 60 days, the herbs will help soothe the inflamed gut: thenaturaldogstore.com/products/four-leaf-rover-gut-guard Or you could try a similar product with the same herbs.

Should mention that the herbs like Slippery Elm that coat the GI tract to soothe can interfere with nutrient absorption & should not be given long term.

What should I do? My dog isn't eating anything. He looks scared every time I try feeding him.

Thanks, informative video. I have been dealing with this with my male Doodle. I find if I give him freeze dried biscuit first thing in the morning he doesn't have the problem but still vomits about 1-2 month. Do you all recommend a product from your store that has the ingredients mentioned in the video? Thanks

Gut Guard has slippery elm and marshmallow root, along with probiotics and other gut-soothing herbs. You only need to use it when your dog throws up, not every day. Here's the link: thenaturaldogstore.com/products/four-leaf-rover-gut-guard

Yeah my 2 year old has done this one time a week ALWAYS in the morning on an empty stomach.... I've tried everything. I have heard Chihuahuas seem to do it more than a lot of the others..... He is happy healthy, and energetic.... Kinda straaanngggeeeee

Mine will throw up in the morning if I don’t feed him after 10 pm! And I have to give him a few bites early morning! Otherwise he’d throw up again and then wouldn’t eat all day!

Can I sprinkle Marshmallow root and DGL licorice root together on my dog food at the dosage you mentioned?
