Onan 4KW Generator Pure Sine Wave Demo

There's some confusion on the various forums about the type of waveform a conventional generator produces, versus an inverter generator. In BOTH cases, it's a sinusoidal (sine) waveform. The conventional generator makes it mechanically via coils and magnets. The inverter generator has an actual inverter inside that creates the waveform artificially. The benefit to the conventional generator is low cost. The downside is it needs to run at a constant speed to produce the 60 Hz waveform. That alone is the reason they often make more noise. An inverter generator only needs to run as fast as the load demands, since the waveform and frequency are made electronically. A slower running motor produces less sound, and consumes less fuel. The downside is they cost significantly more. Any electronics YOU own can safely run from either a conventional generator, or an inverter generator, providing the loads are within the capacity of the generator.
