Reading "Austro-Hungarian joint Venture" I just imagine them going to conquer Trieste 🤣

😂😂 I guess the title is a little provocative then 😁

Just taking back South Tyrol for Austria and Croatia for Hungary will do. No need to reclaim Trieste: it will go to the Slovenes.

Furthermore these are also former ÖBB coaches built between the late 1970s and early 1980s ~ so even more Austria 🇦🇹 in this train. The ÖBB sold a lot of older coaches after buying the new RailJet. Even though similar coaches to these are also still running by the ÖBB.

Very nice, I didn't know that even though I thought they would be.

The Raaberbahn or GYSEV is a Hungarian-Austrian railway company based in Sopron, Hungary. The company is a joint enterprise of the states of Hungary (65.6%),[1] Austria (28.2%), and a holding belonging to ÖBB (4.9%). In Hungarian it is called the Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurti Vasút (GYSEV), and in German it was known as the Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurther Eisenbahn (ROeEE) until 2008, when the name was changed to Raaberbahn.

Thanks for the insights! Strabag SE, which holds 6,12 % of the company is not owned by ÖBB though, is it?

The aisle seat also has a small table. You can see it peaking out of the armrest at 3:51

I sadly only saw it after uploading the video, but thanks for the correction!

Very interesting video! I know these kind of coaches from ÖBB, if find the seats pretty comfy too. They were built by Simmering-Graz-Pauker (now part of Siemens) that also made the old Subways and Trams in Vienna. It's funny that they snuck in a 1. Class option just by putting a leather cover on the seat. But at that price, you can't complain 😅 Little correction: the door seats also have a table (you can even see it for a moment in the video at 3:50 ), but they are pretty hidden under the armrest when folded, so I don't blame you for missing them

Thanks for the insights and the correction. When rewatching the content I can just see the foldable tables, what a pity I missed them. I'll make sure to pin a comment with corrections for my mix-ups soon :)

Great video, you have a new follower! Loved your narrating and what you showed! 1. Most people in Hungary hope that the state won’t be able to increase its shares in the company cos…let’s just say missing soap would be the least of our problems 😅 the Hungarian government’s obnoxious ministers have done a lottttt of damage to the Austrian-Hungarian relations. 2. These are ex-ÖBB carriages, almost identical to the ones running at RegioJet 3. The company (really the government) back then wasted too much time with acquiring the used ÖBB carriages, this is why there were no more first class suitable ones to buy unfortunately. It really is an “upgraded” economy that u get when booking “first” class. A bit like the business class on European airlines 😂 4. YT just recommended your channel, off I go to check out your other vids 😍 Safe travels!

Thank you so much for the feedback and most importantly: the insights. I read that the plan of Hungary to increase it's ownership is mainly aimed at getting single decision power for the company b- thus making decisions without having to take Austria's position into account. And without getting into politics all too much: that sounds concerning and definitely won't improve international collaboration in the railway sector nor the quality of service... Regiojet did buy their coaches from Deutsche Bahn, didn't they? And as the IC 1 carriages of Deutsche Bahn are about to be retired as replaced by the new ICE L, GySEV might get another shot at buying first class coaches if they plan to 😁

That white bar on the top of the sink was the soap
@ExplorebyRail4 ай бұрын
Well, stupid me 😂 sorry for my error :0 The soap dispenser still didn't work though 😅

@@ExplorebyRail it's quite typical in this part of Europe, that they put these soap bars somewhere near the sink instead of filling the dispenser

As someone else already pointed it out, the white bar was the soap. It's not a very good idea to provide soap in that form from the point of hygiene, but it does happen.
@ExplorebyRail4 ай бұрын
Yeah, my bad for missing that :/ But at least they had some. The soap bar is a little unusually shaped though - at least for me - so maybe that's why I didn't consider it being soap :D

@@ExplorebyRail I think that is because it's meant to go into a grinder type dispenser which is found in most of the older MÁV sets
