Renovating a boat i have never done. Houses i have done a few while still living in them. ( as you do ). But the two worst rooms to do were Definitely the Bathrooms and Kitchens. While watching you work i can feel myself doing the same job. Just keep reminding yourself it will get finished eventually ???? The sooner the better, lol. Great work always takes time.

Linh Goben oh I know, I’ve watched you get the boat onto the hard and splashed back again but had missed these early ones, so I’ve decided to catch up on all the early ones I’d missed. It’s fascinating viewing. You’ve all done a great job, not just on the boat work but on the video editing and also with the whole family unit. Please keep it up, even when the diy is done (for now 😂) and you are just living the life.

Thanks for watching Arjan. That's a big boat to build from scratch. I can appreciate how much work would go into that! Did you build her in Napa?
@ArjanBok6 жыл бұрын
No, I did not. I live on a floating home behind the giants ball park and I found a spot on the bay less then 5 minutes from my house that the port of San Francisco gave me a great deal on. Napa marina is nice but a 45 minute drive and that would have made it a lot harder. RotKat is in Puerto Vallarta at the moment, lots easier for epoxy to set over there ;-)

By the way those anti back flow values go on underwater and above water line openings. Most people don’t put them on above water line opening and still can’t figure out why the boat still sank.

Do you use a diamond blade when cutting? Also where were you able to find the honeycomb board? Teal does make it look so easy!
@OnboardLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
I use carbide tipped blades. They don't last very long but do a fine job. The honeycomb composite was purchased at Fiberlay Inc. in Kent, Wa. www.fiberlay.com

No watertight bulk heads?
@OnboardLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
You are correct Michael, I did add bulkheads until I cut Lockers into them. The NidaCore hull material displaces more volume than the entire vessel weighs so watertight bulkheads would be redundant.

Onboard Lifestyle Very good! I worked as a ships engineer on Sail Boats and a believer of prevent prevent prevent! We hit a Whale 500 Miles North of Kauai. An Aluminum Hull. It hit the center board which gave us a 17 foot draft weighing 1 Ton. Sliced 8. 5/8 inch bolts on the flange! Skippers though me odd for three bilge pumps in all bilges! One high volume and 2 lower volume! Like your work. You have great times ahead!

Dude, I know this is an old video. Why would you use a thin skin of an exotic wood like mahogany when cheaper woods could be used as a "CORE MATERIAL"? Not trying to be a wise azz. I can tell you know your stuff.
@OnboardLifestyle4 жыл бұрын
We had purchased an entire pallet of marine grade product and NidaCore at a boat auction so it was in fact cheaper than going out and buying subpar material for our build. Linh is awesome at finding deals online and price compares. I do understand what you are getting at. Otherwise, we would look for other less expensive material to use. Thanks for watching!
