Great video really enjoyed it is a trip I’ve considered before to Auckland but it’s a hike to Sydney from ROK to get to Auckland ! Maybe I’ll do the full NY one ! Or make a trip if it visiting Syd too.

You continue to keep up the good work with these trip reports, Hugo - it’s a credit to you! 👍 I actually just arrived in Auckland today on a tired Qantas 737 from MEL - its a shame Qantas mainly use 737s on the trans Tasman routes - it makes the 787 connection that goes onward to New York all the more lucrative. Do you pay more for this particular flight to NZ rather than the standard 737 services? If not, it’s a good one to snap up. It seems you can only get the 787 to Auckland from Sydney though, all of the MEL - AKL QF services appear to be only on the 737. Shame, as previously they used many wide bodies on this route - including the 747 back in the day. Now it seems like they are just treating this route like a domestic one. Air NZ seems to be a much better option for this route from MEL, although downside is you don’t get the Qantas points.
