A record-breaking Maro Engel has powered to pole position to secure his second Allan Simonsen Trophy.
Engel defeated Broc Feeney and Matt Campbell in a thrilling Pirelli Top 10 Shootout.
The #999 GruppeM Mercedes-AMG driver reset his own 12 Hour lap record en route to pole.
Engel clocked a stunning 2:00.8819s to undercut his qualifying record - a 2:01.0836s - set earlier on Saturday.
The German driver was forced to stave off an impressive riposte from Feeney, who had to reins of the #888 Supercheap Auto Mercedes.
Campbell, the 2020 pole winner, threw his name into the discussion late on.
Prior to Engel’s final flyer, the top three were covered by just 0.08s.
The Bathurst 12 Hour, currently known as the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, is an endurance race for GT and production cars held at the Mount Panorama Circuit, in Bathurst, Australia.
It is an annual race, taking place every February. The race was first held in 1991 for Series Production cars and moved to Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway in 1995 before being discontinued. The race was revived in 2007, again for production cars, before adding a new class for GT3 and other GT cars in 2011. This has led to unprecedented domestic and international exposure for the event. In all, eighteen races have taken place; seventeen at Mount Panorama and one at Eastern Creek Raceway.

Yeah, a great lap takes commitment across the whole lap, but why do you have to make yourself feel important by pointing out what is entirely obvious to everyone with half a brain (myself included)? I got chills watching him blast down the hill and position the car for all those blind apexes with almost inch-perfect accuracy, and it was a highlight of an overall great lap. I was happy to see someone else applauding that skill... why can't you?!?

Awesome to sit in the car for the entire lap! If you know that track the stories shout at you from the barriers. Mountain straight, the climb up to skyline where True Blue hit its Rock and then few years later the Green machine flew off the circuit. The dipper then conrod straight with adding the chase to sliw the beasts down...If Carling made race tracks theyd copy this one! Awesome

The Camera Work in Australia, shits on anything from Europe or America.. In car, outside car, track Camera... Europe tv coverage of each is 6 cameras and a numbnut.. Bathurst 12 hr. 62 cameras.. my mates in Europe are using a vpn. And watching channel 7 live.. and all have said. Wtf?

@@geofftrebble6203 Well Bentley quit GT3 racing for good and Dodge never had a GT3 car. Corvette doesn't have one either currently but are building one for 2024 so we might see them in 2025. Lamborghini just build a new car and couldn't race it in Bathurst, we might see them in 2024 though.
