I watched that Silverstone race recently. You did an amazing job David. You weren't far off 3rd at all. Considering all the incidents that occurred, you were pretty lucky to not get caught up in all that. Was sorry to see the other Rinaldi 488 get taken out in the first lap. Was a shame!

Yea man that Silverstone race was epic. We were soooo close to a podium and possibly even a win. In one way we were unlucky to miss the podium but also VERY lucky to avoid the huge crash at the start of the race. Thanks for your support mate.

Damn thats is a lot of racing for a season well done. I guess it is quite exhausting to travel from country to country or in some cases from continent to continent in between each race. Anyway keep it up we love this cockpits videos and explainations.

If I could complain about one thing it would be the travel, it's very difficult, especially in the middle of the year when you're in a different country every 4 days. But you kind of get used to it and more familiar with the airports and train stations and that reduces the stress of travelling. But still, it's the hard part of the job. The rest is barely a job, it's just a dream.

Seeing that LMP car absolutely fly past at Spa is really something. It's one thing to watch from overheads and know they're quicker, it's another thing entirely so see the difference from inside the cockpit. Something I noticed is that according to the tach graphic you rev out the GT3 car a bit more than the GTE. Is that just because of the added torque or is there something else you can't tell us? Cheers!

Thank you for making this awesome content. I absolutely love the onboard storys, they give such an awesome insight into what and why they do things on the track. The amount of unluck you had to deal with was actually quite unreal - Spa 24h, Barcelona, Spa with Kessel, Nürburgring, Hungaroring - but what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. 2020 Only wins! :) I really enjoyed the part where you did the undercut on Brands Hatch (map has Indy verson, btw), having been practicing it in simracing, it must have felt pretty good pulling that move off?

Firstly, you need to know all drivers are given a certain rating by the organisers: Bronze (Amateur drivers) Silver (Lowest Rated Pro) Gold Platinum So, the Am class consists of bronze drivers, its an Amateur class. Pro-am is a mix of bronze drivers and some pro ones. Silver Cup is a class for silver rated drivers only, which serves as a transition for drivers who were previously bronze and have been recently upgraded to a professional status. Finally, pro is basically gold and platinum drivers, fighting for the overall win.

Hey David, do you have an explanation why the FIA gearing for the 488 is so long? It seems like 1-4 are okay, 5th is really long and 6th is barely used. I remember watching 488 onboards from Spa24 this year and the drivers were using 6th for just a few meters after blanchimont and for some meters on the Kemmel straight. It almost feels like 1-5 in the 488 is more like 2-6 in other GT3 cars that run pretty short gearing. Anyway, thank you for your videos this year, really appreciate your effort. Keep it coming, you're doing a fantastic job.

Hey Mitchi, it's because you're not allowed to change gear ratios in GT3's and they therefore need to be geared for all tracks. Including the long 2km straight at Paul Ricard and Le Mans. So 5th and 6th gear are super long in the GT3 for that reason.

To get a factory drive with Ferrari would require that I de-age by at least 12 years and have something like "GP2 Driver" on my CV. Unfortunately I got into GT's too late to be considered for such a role. But... I do dream about it from time to time 😂

Great video! I would love to see more content on Portimao as I love the track buts it’s difficult. However I do have a question. When you get called up to a team like Kessel (or any for that matter), do they give a clear objective like finish in the top three or is it just do your best? I’ve always wondered as you hear a lot about team orders and never know about the details of driver contracts.

It depends on what the team needs. For example my job in Abu Dhabi was to make sure I brought the car back in one piece so the drivers who were paying to race could get their mileage. In the case of the European Le Mans offer i had to perform at my best. In endurance racing a good result is almost always down to a team effort and not one drivers stint.
