What an awesome video! Good to know the passengers on your trip were a little more well behaved than mine! Hahahaha.... Great meeting you! Till the next time...

Yeah, great to see you too :) It’s been labled the “crackhead express” but I don’t think there were many at 6am. The train home was full, 400 passengers, both me and Rory were hoping for nobody to sit next to us! Thanks for watching

I am going to admit, I have NEVER heard of Gawler before. If not for you and Ryan, I probably would never know about this wee lil town. Gotta love a semi collab with another KZbinr!

I lived in Elizabeth in the 60s when my dad was in the Airforce. Hard times but fun. It made me tougher and I'm still standing. Adelaide in general has grown slowly since then, but with improved transport and better land management it may start growing a bit quicker now.

You’ll have to try the train then :)

Indeed. Adelaide was bigger than Perth back then. Perth overtook Adelaide sometime during the 80s and is now at least one and a half times bigger. It's good to see Adelaide at last getting its electrification though. Now all they need is to create a through-line going through the Adelaide Railway Station. A loop system would be a bonus but atleast turning the terminal station into a through station would still make a big positive difference.

Really? I thought Adelaide would be ahead of Perth. All Perth's suburban lines have been electrified for decades and more are still being built.

Adelaide was all diesal in 2014, they only started electrification in 2015

Nice video. Although I never made it to the very first Gawler bound EMU.That due to me being all the way down Noarlunga way. However I did end up getting 4009 latter on for the Sunday free trip. Was fun, and also as I was heading back to Adelaide. The sections between Evanston, Tamberlin, and Kulda, the train did seemed to be going faster than what they normally would on the Seaord line. Dont know if that was really the case, but it felt that it was for me. I need to go out and do more Adelaide Metro related video again, but I am thinking in re-doing my network wide series of videos on the Metro Adelaide rail network again sometime after the Ovingham station had re-open.

Great Video.That was my first time up there on the train in ages as far as Elizabeth.I was using the J1 for the most part 18 months(apart from one trip out there from town on a GA3 and returning using a 560 to Tea Tree Plaza and M44 onwards)it even with changing buses at salisbury worked out 10 minutes faster outbound but travel time on the return was worse that first time due to the delay on the inbound train.

I thought I would try it out yesterday from smithfield to Elizabeth on my way an old diesel train rocked up disappointed but never mind on my way back I got on a new train but from Elizabeth to wooma the line needs a close look at as its a rough ride so over the almost 2 years and months of testing wtf where they really doing
@ifly12 жыл бұрын
They don’t have enough Electric trains yet to go on the Galwer line, hence they are still using diesel on selected services
@bruceallen62022 жыл бұрын
@@ifly1 that will go on for years just like the whole shimozzle of converting it to electric lucky it was half started many years before this attempt or the northern people that use the service would be waiting another year
@franzchong58892 жыл бұрын
True.what stunned me was prior to the train returning was how almost J1 alternatives for city bound people who didn't need intermediate stations on the Gawler Line were always packed for the last 18 months.I have done a GA3 substitute before and never again.they took some long winded round run to get there.everyone except adelaide metro knew the fastest way to Elizabeth with only stops for traffic lights was Main North Road and then Phillip Highway and Elizabeth way to the train station from town.I was sitting quietly all ride and looked up and thought this isn't right what are we doing passing the old Jeans Factory near Elizabeth West and the old Levi's plus going near where Manos Chicken used to be.And it dawned on me I wasn't on the airport bus up north that I was scared to use due to a health scare earlier that day in and around the airport and glenelg/surrounding areas.
