In the spring of 1970 I flew to Sydney on a Pan Am R&R flight which made a stop in Darwin both ways. At the time a small regional carrier McRoberson Miller was flying the first F-28 up from Perth with stops in NW Australia towns which must have been one of the first operators. American Airlines had a fleet of the F-100s for a time and Malev Hungarian operated six of the F-70s which seemed quite reliable.

I totally agree with you...controllable fresh air is needed please aircraft manufacturers and airlines.

Even the old Fokkers still look nice, but I'm sure the really old Fokker have already retired in Australia. When I visited Miami, FL last summer I was told there were a lot of old Fokkers down there, having relocated from Canada and the Northern US; however, instead of old Fokkers everywhere, all I saw was Airbus and Boeing. Then again, maybe it was just too hot for all the old Fokkers when I visited... Earlier in my life, I really wanted to join the Mile High Club and what a better plane to do so than a Fokker. My father flys for Alliance airlines he flys the Fokker 70 and 100 the difference is the Fokker 100 is a touch longer other than that they are the same including the controls I don’t know if he has flown that plane but it’s in Australia so there is a high chance
@PaulStewartAviation4 жыл бұрын
That's cool that he flies the Fokkers! You're right about the length of the 100, I made a mistake there. Cheers for watching.

American Airlines and Canadian had them back in the day. I flew in quite a few of them. I thought I had heard that they don’t need a tug for F100s when they push back from the gate. They can go in reverse. Anyone ?
@wiljonkesteloo3754 жыл бұрын
Yes they can, did it myself when groundrunning at the Fokker Factory as an engineer. But airlines are not too fond of doing this, it cost fuel and the jet blast on the apron is not appreciated.
@bwc19763 жыл бұрын
My first time on a jet was an American F100! I remember having no idea Fokker was still around, as the only other one I knew at the time was the Red Baron's triplane from WWI.

I guess I’m lucky, I think 8 have flown on a few unique aircraft, and cars. Cars make me tick, wheel man, driven some booming cars

Why did they used flaps for take-off? A Fokker doesn't need that due the powerfull Tay engines. Or has it something to do with the weather?

It’s quite normal to use flaps on takeoff!

@@PaulStewartAviation thats true but with fokkers is it not always. thats just funny, everyone scared in the aircraft about using no flaps
