VC10 came before the 747, and it did the fastest subsonic crossing of the atlantic, until the 747 took 40 years to break it with 170ish mph storm tail winds vc10 > 747

VC 10. Beautiful on the outside, but I found it cramped and the fact the seats faced the rear instead of the cockpit was a little unnerving
