@micahwatson90175 жыл бұрын
Teal, when you install your radius fillets, put the thickened epoxy into a piping bag and cut an appropriate size hole in the end for your radius. Squeeze it out as you would laying caulk and then use your 1" radius tool to wipe it. It's so quick, easy and much cleaner. You can just use a gallon size ziplock bag too.

Being a newcomer, I'm guessing this beautiful cat has taken on its' own life for you and the family! The sugar scoops must have needed remodeling for some reason but they sure look great. I heard you mention an outboard well? or was it an outdrive well? Can I assume that you've gone to a different power system? What ever things used to be apparently gone and you're building something that will better serve your needs in the future. After seeing your "artwork" I understand you much better. A man of minute detail would be a perfect description for you sir and I am really impressed! Looking forward to seeing more, please!
@OnboardLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Edward, actually the boat was originally designed to have a single 40 outboard in the cockpit on a retractable sled. The sled was removed and wells with 9.9 long shaft outboards were added in the sugar scoops. The previous owner shaved the wells and put Yanmar 3YM30 diesel engines with Yanmar SD20 sail drives in.

Any thoughts on emergency rudders? Rudders going out in blue water is a boat killer. Many cobbled together emergency rudders and drought lines have failed on luckless crews where the helicopter comes and takes them away leaving their spinning boat behind. I’ve been watching your high quality projects. I started with ep 41 thru 46. I’m uncertain what’s going on, with the evolution of your ownership. So I started watching from the start, ep 1, thru ep 16. I know the boat is 25 years old and you have owned for maybe 7 years. All these videos cover about the last year. The main cabin seems to have been reworked before the videos start. Did you work on the boat over the last 7 years? Your wife apparently still works somewhere, are you retired? Your boat seems very large, what are the exterior dimensions? I guess I’m wondering the overall context of your project, goals, history of the boat, etc. Thanks

Teal, I have few a questions. First is lake union fresh or sea water? And second how does that affect a sail boat? It’s buoyancy and how it rides through the water? Any changes that need to be made. I only ask because I was wondering if this was covered when you got your captains license
@OnboardLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
Lake Union is fresh water and that subject was covered when we studied "Load Lines" and "Plimsoll Marks" in my course. Buoyancy changes with water density. A vessel floating in water that is more dense will float higher and its draft will be less, a vessel floating in less dense water will draw more and its draft will be greater hence it will have less degree of reserve buoyancy. Since salt water is more dense than fresh water our boat will float higher and our draft will be less once we leave Lake Union.
@allanhill80036 жыл бұрын
Teal! You are certainly the most multitalented yachtie I have encountered! Liked your sculptures a lot. Are you sticking with the kick up rudders? I have read they tend to be noisy, and a bit fragile.your cat looks as though she can be speedy,lots of stress on the rudders.🤔
@OnboardLifestyle6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Allen and may eliminate the "kick-up" aspect of the system. I am looking at options and doing a bit of research before making that decision.
