The red fish is called. Blacktip grouper (Vieille rouge in Mauritian): Variable shades of red, with dark vertical cross bars (not always visible!). Dorsal fins tipped with black. They don't really get much bigger than what you caught. Also very good eating fish.

Great video, have you ever considered swopping out your trebles for singles? Have personally found much better success rate by doing this.

I run singles back in NZ exclusively, ive been told for GT to run trebles so that's why I was using trebles, I wonder what would have happened if I were to use singles

Singles you miss more! but when you do hook up it usually stays on! Better for the fish also tbh. I haven't been using singles because the brands i was using kept breaking! And the trebles are the only hooks i am producing right now, but hopefully will develop singles also! and barbless versions for each kind of hook. Sometimes its just unlucky! ;) @@JEWildsFishing

Great video try snagging less if you can the initial grab from the fish and your first snag should get him especially if your running a treble hook but you are snagging it out the fishes mouth lol understandable due to the excitement and if you have doubts about the first snag but you would rather have it spit it out then rip it out keep up the good work !!!

If you feel you don't have a solid hook-up, jab her once while she's running away from you. Or dangle a few circle hooks on some heavy braid and hang on! Tight lines Brother.

Just watching you loose some fish! Strike once or twice......that is all you need to do, if you are using quality hooks! You are striking the hooks right out of the fish's mouth, and possibly damaging the fish aswell. Think about this !! You are over Aggressive!!

There is places in the Northern Territory that there’s 40 kg GT fish with 6 to 7 Lewis stuck to the heads. Were there been cut off and they swim around with jewelry on their heads so you actually get heaps of Lewis as a prize

I didn’t want to reply again tonight, but when I was commercial Barra Fishman, there was worms inside Barra fillets. Just get them out of the flesh, then cook it all the way through they are fish parasites not human read me parasites. I know it sounds disgusting, but they will not harm you as long as you cook the fish all the way through. I would not tell you to do sushi with it though.

Bro you gotta stop jerking so much after you set the hook, two proper jerks and you're set, drag is tight so you're just asking to pull hooks, switch to a softer rod if you're gonna jerk so much after a hit, like Cavvy said, no need to set so aggressively, let the fish eat and then set the hook once, once your hooks are sharp they'll stick, then just stay tight

Thanks man, yeah crazy aye. Everybody previously to this trip has been telling me to go overboard with the striking on the fish. I was just going by the recommendations. If you scroll back through my videos where I am fishing my local zones for the big Kingfish, you will see I normally only do one hook set strike and let the drag set the hooks

Gotta say this might be the most fun I've ever had on KZbin. Feels like I've been on the best fishing trip ever, only without the sunburn. Only issue I have is with regards to your safety. I hope that in the event that one of you for example, breaks your leg while out on the rocks, do you have access to emergency services to get you help if you need it? I know that when I was younger, we had no cell phones or medical heli's in our area (that I knew of), and an accident was the last thing we thought could happen. Where you guys are fishing, really ANYTHING 'could' happen. Please be safe and take good care!
