I don't think I ever realized just how cruel Regina was being in this until recently, and it's honestly breathtaking writing. This scene demenstrates better than any of her larger moments as a villian how evil the evil queen truly was. And this is a scene where she's with Rumple, an ally, if not a friend. Someone she intends to deal with regularly. It's an incredable trump card if she ever needs it, having Belle to hold over his head, but she still plays with him. Of course she doesn't want him knowing she has Belle, but she could have just said she died. But no, she goes in letting him beleive that she was homeless because of him, even that she might come back to him if he went to her, before dropping the insanity and torture and suicide on him, and it's horrifyingly cruel, and works terrifyingly well from how she would know about it and how it was brought up, to the perfect details. it exemplifies just how bad regina was and i for one love it

Rumpel probably regrets teaching her magic and making her evil.

@@jwill5892 If he hadn't taught her magic and made it so she would cast the Dark Curse, he'd never have seen Baelfire again. There were likely other options to making her cast the curse, but turning Regina dark was the only way she would be willing. At the same time, he never would have done this to Regina. Destroy false hope in a nasty way, yes. He did about the same thing to her by destroying her hope at resurrecting Daniel, even if he was sneakier about it and she likely never knew he was behind that. But he wouldn't use a loved one as a trump card to hang over her head. Rumpelstiltskin never captured Daniel's body to force her into casting the curse, for example. He didn't string her along for whether she could bring Daniel back, either. Cora captured Regina's father Henry to use against her; but Rumpelstiltskin never did, even though he had far more opportunity than Cora. Which is imo why he was so angry when he found out that Regina had imprisoned Belle, lied to him about her pain and death, and that she would use a loved one against him like that. I think he expected some displays of temper from turning her dark, and Rumpelstiltskin and Regina didn't treat each other well. But also that he figured there were LIMITS because they were teacher/student and friends, and quite possibly the closest to family that he still had near him at that point. It really does show that Regina at her darkest was truly evil- to her enemies, to her unwilling subjects, and even to her friends like Rumpelstiltskin and Maleficent.

Just started rewatching the series and honestly I'm quite impressed by the continuity with the flashbacks.....they line up really well. The fact that is is still the pilot season and they lowkey mentioned Ariel only to have her show up later. I'm actually blown away.

I was confused why they mentioned her right here because I thought she didn't show up till later.

They do that a lot. They namedrop characters incase they want to use them later.

Just noticed that the tea set in this scene is metallic. It’s an interesting choice and attention to detail since he shattered the porcelain set in a previous scene.

Anyone who is tortured with scourges and flaying would do anything to die quickly. I promise you that.

Looking back I feel so dumb as not to realise this. After watching season 3 we understand why Rumple loves the wheel so much. Because it ‘helps him forget’, forget his dad. I think I could’ve realised that but I completely forgot. Now, rewatching ouat, I finally understand
@CatGold5047Ай бұрын
Oh damn, I didn't realize that either. Of COURSE it's his dad abandoning him he'd be trying to forget. I feel so dumb too!!

Did you find out? Because it means to be whipped and beaten, very similar to how slaves were treated.

@@iRazenrakBut flaying means to tear the skin off your body. Being whipped like that would drive any human mad.

Regina seems startled that Rumpelstiltskin is acting this way. I don't know if she's ever seen his humanity so starkly visible before.
