Unfortunately I don't think that there is a professional photo restorer nearby. And I used to be in the photo developing business, and once pictures like that get exposed to as much water as it did, they will warp, become discolored and just be hard to save. And with as much work as they still have in front of them, it is not a high priority right now. But, at least he still has the memories in his heart and mind, that no flood can ever take away 😊

I totally agree! Those pictures are worth 1000 words and so many memories that Lester should try to save them. The album may be damaged however who knows the pictures may not have been destroyed and can be restored. He should also keep the gold plaque on the front of the album as well and maybe start a new photo album with the restored pictures along with any new pictures that were taken before LE and Meg took over ISS.

Lester you can take a picture with your phone of each one you want to save in the picture album . Then have them printed from your phone. I’ve done that before. Very easy to do.

Lester please take those pictures out of the book, place them on wax paper, make sure all the pictures have wax paper between them. Then get silica gel packets put all photos in an air tight container with the silica packets. Don't open and sprinkle the silica packets on the photos. If you don't have time to get silica packets for several days then you can put the photos on wax paper so that they're not touching, put in an air tight container then put them in the freezer. It will buy you time to have them properly restored. Our house flooded and these were the recommended things to do to restore our photos. There's a company in Houston Texas that specializes in restoration of photos. They're called Heritage Photo Restoration. Those memories are very important to you and your family. I hope this helps! It is so heartbreaking 💔 when flood waters destroy photo albums like this one - but 1 thing that flood waters can never destroy, us the memories in our hearts 💕 and in our minds. Another thing to remember is that ever since the flood - y'all are creating new memories - especially with videos. Lester, those photos look so much better than mine that sat for 3 months in a fire safe. Not knowing the waterline leaked into the safe but the clothes over the safe was totally dry. Heart breaking for sure. I was so happy to see your pictures were still pictures. Wet but intact. Dry them out and hopefully the stench goes away.

Pls don't throw that album away. You can always have the pictures fixed or not. I lost everything I owned in a fire 4 years ago, and my pictures were the only thing I took even with water damage. Sadly, I have not had the courage to look at them yet, but I know I can and will one day. ❤

Lester, I know how it feels to lose pictures. Just remember that the picture may be gone, but the memory lives on. These pictures look salvageable, but try to get them out to dry soon. If the plastic sticks, it will damage the pictures.

What a beautiful book of memories rescued. Take all the pictures out and lay them flat to dry. Once dry lay books or other heavy flat things on them for a couple days. Then put into a new album. This is something you want to cherish forever (and add to).

I'd be getting those photos scanned or saved somehow before discarding because of flood damage if you don't already have them saved somewhere and I'd be making sure of that, I hate losing photos. Too much history and good memories and when your own memory fades, photos can bring them back. Don't fret too much about the building, it was a good barn that turned into your home and enabled you to move on, now you have a beautiful place at LHL. I'd clear the trash out from the front and take a photo of the old barndominium, don't be sad Lester, you have already moved on.

When my picture books were covered in water from the fire being put out, I carefully peeled the pictures from the pages and let them dry out. This was the late 90's before there was photo restoration available so after they dried, i placed them in sealed bags and placed them on a high shelf in a closet. I hope it makes you feel just a bit better knowing you don't have to throw them away. Sending you guys a lot of love!

I can so relate...I've been through fire damage & what that didn't eat up the fireman's water ruined the rest.
