@JuneLee glad you found this one! On another note, I wonder if you’d ever transpose World O World from the new album, working with Jacob. I’d be really interested to find out the actual voicings in the choir.

Love the piano at 5:29 and how it seques into a that great feeling of movement and urgency. This is a lovely arrangement for one of Colliers best pieces. It always manages to move me.

Artful in embellishment and emotional. Great music warrants adaptations! I’m misty-eyed.

Quelle incroyablement juste compréhension de la pièce de J. Collier. Merci de nous partager votre talent, votre appréciation et votre respect de la musique. (Montréal, Canada)

My word. This is stunning. Technical virtuosity from you both, and such a wonderful, sophisticated arrangement. It feels much older than it is, as a piece. So swooning and decadent. And obvs being Collier, the harmony is deliciously complex. So much so that the diatonic ascending chords from @4:38 feel like a different kind of satisfying treat! Thank you
A very, very good job. This has real artistic quality in it. Thank you so much. This is valuable.

Those glissandos sound like whale song! How do you create them? Is it like harmonics on the guitar?
@DavidDesimpelaere2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, The harmonics I play are all artificial harmonics. This means you shorten the vibrating string length with your thumb and at the same time you use your 3rd or 2nd finger to play a harmonic. Playing a glissando downwards, without changing the position of your hand, creates the whale-effect. Because the interval created by your hand gets smaller the lower you slide, the frequency of the note/harmonic changes suddenly. A little technical explanation😊, Best regards David
