If drilling a hole in a wall just get an envelope, stick it to the wall with masking tape underneath where you’re drilling and let the envelope catch the dust. No plastic bottles or vices needed. 😊

Cutting the first bottle was a bit dangerous as you were cutting towards yourself... One slip and that knife would do some serious damage. I would hate for that to happen to anyone. The milk jug separator wi a brilliant idea and I have a 5-gallon pail that is FULL to the rib with nuts bolts washers screws and such; this is ideal for what I would need to separate them. I cannot even move the bucket as it is just too heavy for even 2 men to lift... Thank you for some great ideas!

@@EmpathyStories86 Not tried it yet as I have other projects that need to be finished and moved out of the space where the 5-gallon metal pail is. It probably weighs a hundred pounds or more. I cannot move it alone!! I also do not drink milk so getting the milk container would be only possible on recycle day.

I have been rifilling the same plastic "recyclable" water bottle for almost 2 years!! And no holes needed to be drilled in it!! When it finally gets a crack, I will have to put it in plastic recycling rececptacle and get a new $1 bottle of spring water from Walmart.

You can find your screws easier and pick them up easier...so save all your caps because next time you buy a box of 1000 screws or 10 pounds or whatever, you can sit down and fasten each one to a bottle cap so if you are it a hurry you will be able to find them and pick them up easily!! Problem solved! I hope this guy is not an engineer for an aviation company...or car company...or a toaster manufacturer

Very clever! I wish there was a way to do that with a drill press. I’m in Wood guild and we make wooden toys for different children’s organizations. We drill a lot of holes on our drill presses. It’s the biggest mess in the shop.

Excellent project. Thanks for sharing - a great way to keep all those plastic water bottles out of the wastestream and threatening out previous sustaibnable resources. A favorite kitchen hack of mine is to poke holes in a plastic kitchen garbage can bag. That way that bag doesn't get all puffy when you add items - which of course means fewer plastic kitchen bags also enter the wastestream Works every time.

Easier to use an envelope. Open the flap up, and use sticky tape to stick the envelope flap to the wall just below where you want to drill the hole. As you drill the hole the sawdust falls into the envelope, peel the envelope off and empty the sawdust into a bin.
