This was the result of the Super typhoon Yagi that hits Vietnam yesterday, which created floods and landslide that destroyed houses and infrastructure. It’s heartbreaking to see how my country is being impacted so severely by climate change.

Between 1954 and 1999, there have been 212 typhoons landing in or directly influencing Viet Nam. On average, there are about 30 typhoons originating in the Western Pacific Ocean each year of which about 10 are generated in the South China Sea. Of these, an average of 4 to 6 hit of affect Viet Nam. The worst in this century was the 1904 typhoon in the South which caused death and injury to 5000 people. 1904.

The fact that the bridge had a metal frame above and around it probably decreased the chance of survival. Anthing beneath would be pushed under. This is just sad

They tried their best to grab onto the road, but unfortunately were not able to get a good enough grip in that split second. Sometimes, you cannot deny that there is such a thing as fate. This driver and the passengers had a very lucky escape. If they had fallen into the river, it would have been the car behind it recording from its dashcam.

This used to be a childhood fear of mine, but the incident would be a night. The vehicle right in front of us would be there and then suddenly disappear into a void and if we don't stop in time, we would join them. Here it is now in reality. I hope that all that fell in would be rescued and would be all right. Sadly, I know better.

I don't think it was badly built. The foundation was most likely washed away by the strong water current. Bridges are only built to withstand a certain wind and water force. They probably never anticipated this kind of water force in 1995. Bridges in the West are built the same way.

That bridge was built by the Chinese in 1994By China State Road and Bridge Corporation 11 The Vietnamese consider these constructions an insult. This is why we chose Japan and not China for the cross-country high-speed train project.

That’s awful ,I spent a month riding around southern Vietnam ,from Saigon on a Vespa and you allways notice the difference if road surfaces ,, every time I went to ride Ono elf the bridges I had to pick my spot as there was allways a notice late diff etween road and bridge ,, from what I was told china has invested heavily invietnam and many of the bridges are Chinese built ,,,I wonder just how good they are
