I was a huuuuge fan of Fergie and The Dutchess in 2007. She still could’ve gone hard amongst the Gaga and Perry breakouts, but then the Peas had to reunite and make a few bucks and capitalise on their solo successes, which essentially created that fateful “gap”. And very true, she should have been working on a new full length album at the same time as “the End” and released it in between those two BEP albums, and just delayed a tour or toured on a smaller scale. I miss Fergie!!!
@t.e.burgos3263 Жыл бұрын
Man, Double Dutchess' failure still hurts me. The back-to-back megasuccess of Fergie's The Dutchess and the BEP's The End was the perfect preamble to release a Fergie sophomore disc in either 2010 or 2011. During that time, the biggest pop girls were Katy, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, while Adele was starting her dominance, but Fergie's edgier pop with a side of blue-eyed hip hop was still relevant. When I revisit Double Dutchess, I lament the fact that it had so many potential hits (A Little Work, Save It Till Morning, L.A. Love, Life Goes On, Tension, MILK MONEY, et al.) that never had a chance to become hits because by the time the disc was finally released (11 years after The Dutchess!), audiences had moved on.

She wanted to focus on being a mom. That's the single biggest reason for the inconsisetncy and so on. It has nothing to do with her work in the Peas. As a matter of fact, after The Beginning (2010), she was not very involved with the Peas anyways.
@rafaelherrera8403 Жыл бұрын
The Peas did not reunite to make a few bucks friend. They were packing stadiums worldwide, breaking Billboard records, making Guiness Records, winnin Grammys. Fergie's comeback to the Peas was the right choice, the mistake was how long took her to drop her second solo album. If she did it by 2012 it would be huge as she had her own and the Peas fans in her bag.

Fergie could have been a huge solo artist had she released music consistently. She said she waited so long because she wasn't willing to sacrifice time with her son for her career which is completely understandable. I feel like the biggest issue with her second album is that it really did sound like The Dutchess Part 2 and that sound is pretty dated now. Perhaps, if she'd come back with something a bit fresher, it would have made more waves.

Her career was so hot during 'Duchess' and she completely wasted the momentum from that incredible album. Either she or her managers made some really bad decisions in waiting so ridiculously long for a follow-up solo release. Only proven superstars like Beyonce, Britney or Madonna can wait so long between albums and not be nearly forgotten. I agree that 'Double Duchess' is a great album but the timing was so bad. I hope she can make some sort of comeback, if that's something she wants to do.

Both Lorde’s first and second albums have hits. Her third album is debatable, but the title track does have over a 100 million streams.

I personally think Iggy is such a smart and well spoken person. That being said, I like her music less than I would like to, if that makes sense. The New Classic (+ Reclassified) is indeed her best work imo, although there were some hits that came after. I personally think Mo Bounce killed her career. Cause Team and Switch were definitely at least decent.

The issue with Fergie was she waited over 10 years for a album,she got too old

can we all stop acting like Iggy got bullied out for being white? thats literally not true at all, she faked an accent and her gibberish rapping in that festival was the reason why her career fell apart in reality before that mess she caused herself by being untalented in that freestyle, she got so much exposure and collabs with bigger stars in her debut album other female rappers never get

Wow she 'faked an accent ' what a crime.

@@englishblade you do realise a lot of people in the entertainment industry, whether its the US, Korea or other places, change the accent they grew up with to blend in and avoid stereotypes? But sure, bring her down for it because shes white and good at rapping. Blacks are petty. Just like they try to take Eminem down cause he's the best.

Ashlee Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, París Hilton, Ciara, Amerie, Jojo, tatu.
@sweetieecakee Жыл бұрын
Ashlee had 3 successful albums. Jojo had 2 successful albums with her 3rd also debuting at number 6. Ciara's first 2 albums were massive and her 3rd debuted at number 3 which is great. Lindsay and Paris could fall more into a one album wonder. Lindsay's second album didn't do nearly as good as her debut.

Jojo had 2 hit albums (Self titled + The high road) so she doesn't qualify for this list.

@@sweetieecakeeEven Lindsay’s second album still went Gold and the song Daughter to Father was her only song to chart on the Hot 100
@sweetieecakee Жыл бұрын
@@usera1113 it wasnt a successful album in general. At it's time it was a flop in comparison to her previous work. "A Little More Personal" only charted at #20. "Speak" charted at #4.. that's a huge fall off in only a year difference.

@@sweetieecakee Yeah but Gold is only one step below Platinum so it wasn’t far off, most artists slightly decline in sales with their sophomore album. You’ve mentioned albums like Paris which reached the Top 10 but probably quickly dropped out of the charts hence they didn’t sell enough to be certified. This means that Lindsay’s album was more consistent in the charts, and the interest was still there with the only single’s success. It’s just my opinion that sales determine the album’s success rather than its chart position
