I trained those with no resistance. The key to work up to it safely, is to do scapular movements first. Raise your body as much as you can without moving your elbows. Hang first to strengthen your hands and get your arm and torso bones used to the load. Then scapular inch-ups to strengthen your back and shoulder muscles. Naturally, your body will ask for more and you'll do the full motion pull-ups

Physical prime? I’m 42, 5’6”. Exactly one year ago today, the day after Thanksgiving, I was 212 lbs. and I decided to lose weight. By May I was 143 and decided to work on my physique. Started calisthenics. Did tons of body weight exercises, then started to learn calisthenics moves. Started with the L-sit. By the end of the summer I was doing L-sits into handstands. Now I’m working my way to a full planche. I’m in the best shape of my life right now at 42. Even better than when I was working out and looking cut when I was 25. In fact, I have more muscle definition and see more muscles on me than I ever have before. Physical prime has nothing against mental fortitude……

Just a few tips if you ever lose it and have to retrain it: 1. Don't stick to only powerlifting bands. Buy some Theratubes as well. The yellow tube is incredibly light. 2. Don't only do sets of 1-2 reps. Build up to the hypertrophy range. Using single strand Theratube yellow, I got up to sets of 9 reps. It got me to 7 reps per side without the band.

@swalscha
@swalscha Жыл бұрын
@@ErikDerElektriker strength is build over stability. If you try to gain strength with poor stability you're gonna take months for a oap sure, if not injured first. But if you include exercises to reinforce small muscles that contribute to an overall core stability, you'll allow the bigger muscles to work properly. So imo, with exercises like a "typewriter"/lateral push-up and pull-up (both hands) and one arm superman push up hold included in the program for the oap, you'll need significantly less more days. Just repeating the same unique movement is not always the smarter choice to progress. In an other video he responded why he didn't try the eccentric + elastic band method, he said that the path followed during the exercise wasn't the same with an assisted band. I agree with him that it is an important point but it's because of his lack in stability that he couldn't engage a proper path or near this path. Train smarter not harder = do things in order, step by step 🤷🏻‍♂️

Huge tip cause i went through this process too: pull yourself up with both hands and at the top release one hand and hold yourself up as long as you can going down as slow as possible (build some strength before trying this) it only took me a little over a month to be able to do my first OAP using this method, as well as other methods like using a shirt as like a resistance band (i didnt have a resistance band lol) and doing the easy version of one arms by grabbing my wrist as support gradually moving my support down my arm till i could do one while just holding onto my shoulder. And don't try to progress too fast! This move causes so much stress both throughout your arm and on your shoulder, even when getting fairly close i nearly injured my arms multiple times!

Doing pull up negatives is a great way to achieve this with far less risk of injury. Do a regular pull up, take one hand off the bar and guide yourself down as slow as possible, rinse and repeat.

Weighted pull ups, especially heavy negatives and isometrics holds, are probably the most important training method (in my experience).

Awesome. What did you injure in your shoulder? Good progression. Light weight is very good for shoulder injuries.

The mistake is to assume that just because you don't have lighter resistance the next step is to try unassisted. That jump is way too high, possibly the highest of them all. No matter how weak, any assistance will aid with activation and activation of the kinetic chain. After getting comfortable with the lightest resistance, let go at the top and train the eccentric portion (going down). When you're comfortable with that, start the movement with resistance and let go halfway as you go up. Then train exclusively how to activate your shoulders stabilizing muscles before starting the assistance. Then finally try to connect the movements with the band by your side to aid through sticking points. Go through the steps as you feel confident in each one, it may take hours or weeks but it's definitely better than risking overloading and injury. Good training!

Damn, I never thought his progress would say shit about my inconsistent bodyworkout program. Started at quite same point while you learned about Handstand, I still stuck at 5 pull up max reps and 50 reps pushup max reps. I guess everyday is pull day from now on, thanks for the positive energy bro!

If you get stuck like this, it‘s a good Idea to train the eccentric part of the move - jump or step up to the top part of the movement and lower yourself down as slowly as possible. It‘s way safer and more effective than jerking around at the bottom. Still a great job and massive props for managing that move!
