I was in college the first time I discovered KZbin. I spent three hours on the library just searching for band performances. I couldn't believe how much content was so easily available that I had never seen. The Mars Volta were one of the bands I explored.

At The Drive In was big back in the 90s and early 2000s. There's a lot of history here - the singer Cedric and lead guitarist Omar formed a band called The Mars Volta after ATDI split up. Then came Antemasque a decade-ish later. And now we have At The Drive In once again.

Nostalgic, epic.... Been covering their songs many years ago.. Brings back the memories... Everytime we play their songs in a gig we try to match the intensity in the way they perform and it was epic...

In hindsight, it was probably not the best idea to compare Omar to Woody Allen in any capacity.
@robbiepeterh3 жыл бұрын
They paper over the cracks cleverly, firstly taking the song a semi tone down from the original, Cedric not performing certain shouts he used to do thus preserving his voice, and not leaping around as much as they used to. It’s actually a pretty decent rendition of what they were capable of doing twenty years ago.

This song is for Mark E Smith and The Fall!
@idontthinkso77337 жыл бұрын
"IF YOU DONT KNOW WHO THE FALL IS....................YOUVEBEEN LISTENING TO TOO MUCH HIP HOP AND HEAVY METAL." very quietly before all that... cedric says to himself "i'm wired, can't you see?" uh, yeah cedric, we can see. you just tried to rip your face off from the inside of your mouth in the last song. furthermore, not only can we see, we can very much HEAR that you are wired. heheh. in all seriousness i love that big day out performance, and all of cedric's youthful bravado and pretentious idiosycratic asshole qualities. what can i say. it charmed me, no sarcasm.
@idontthinkso77337 жыл бұрын
i also say this with no sarcasm that at that age i really did have no idea i was listening to too much hip hop and heavy metal until cedric told me i was. damn.
